First Bob Dylan Exhibition to Open in Seattle

Seattle – Fans of Bob Dylan, the songwriter who has been called the conscience of the 1960s generation, will be able to see items from the artist’s early career and listen to rare recordings at an exhibit opening in Seattle this weekend. Dylan’s handwritten lyrics for “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Like a Rolling Stone,” as well a 24-minute recording of Dylan’s first concert in New York, which was never commercially released, are featured in “Bob Dylan’s American Journey 1956-1966” at the Experience Music Project. Bob Dylan Shows Berlin Who The Man Is – Review

Nearly 40 years after he wrote the lyric “He not busy being born is busy dying,” Bob Dylan clearly still believes that estimation is right on the mark. Looking snazzy in a black cowboy hat and old-school Western suit, the 60-year-old folk-rock icon was tireless, fearless and masterful throughout his 140-minute show Thursday at the Arena. Within shouting range of Treptow Park, where he played in 1987 when the area was still communist East Germany, the Arena is a onetime bus depot and hangar that now serves as one of the city’s largest music venues. The 7,500-capacity, standing-room-only space served… Read more »

Bob Dylan to Write Multivolume Autobiography

Rock legend Bob Dylan has reached a deal to write a multivolume autobiography called “Chronicles,” a spokeswoman for his publisher, Simon & Schuster, said on Monday. “Over the years, he’s engaged in all forms of writing. This is just a natural extension of the experience,” said Elliott Mintz, Dylan’s spokesman. Dylan, 60, won the best-album Grammy award in 1997 for “Time Out of Mind,” an Oscar for best song for last year’s “Things Have Changed,” and has been nominated for a Nobel Prize in literature. This autumn, he released “Love and Theft,” his 43rd album, to critical acclaim and is… Read more »

Bob Dylan At 60 Still Going Strong, Still A Loner

Bob Dylan, who gave voice to the youth revolt of the 1960s and revolutionized rock ‘n’ roll in the process, turns 60 on Thursday with many arguing that he was the most influential musician of the second half of the century. With his entry into the world of senior citizens, one thing remains certain: Dylan’s inner core and personality remain as elusive today as nearly 40 years ago when he burst onto the folk music scene in New York City’s Greenwich Village. “What he achieved was a reinvention of popular music – a maturation of postwar popular music,” said David… Read more »

Dylan, Joel and Taylor Sue Vivendi's MP3.com

Rock stars Bob Dylan (news), Billy Joel (news) and James Taylor (news) filed a lawsuit against Vivendi Universal’s MP3.com music Web site for allegedly distributing their songs without authorization, sources familiar with the suit said on Tuesday.
