Static-X bassist Tony Campos sustained a broken collarbone in a motorcycle accident Monday near his Los Angeles home. The accident will sideline him for the first few dates of the band’s stint alongside monumental metallers Pantera and Slayer on the Extreme Steel Tour. Singer Wayne Static, drummer Ken Jay and new guitarist Tripp Eisen will hit the road Wednesday with their bassist providing only backing vocals, according to the group’s manager. Methods of Mayhem’s Marty O’Brien, whom the band met during last year’s Ozzfest, will assume instrumental duties for the next few weeks until the doctor gives Campos the go-ahead.… Read more »

The Offspring has announced the name of their new drummer. He’s Atom Willard, formerly of the punk act Rocket From The Crypt. The new Offspring album, titled Splinter, arrives on December 2. Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix is having trouble concentrating on the conversation. Interrupting the lead singer’s discussion about the in-your-face band’s latest album is the cry of a baby. “Can you hold on? I’ve got to get the baby a bottle,” he says. It’s the first sign there’s something afoot for the band that burst onto the musical scene in 2000 with the rap-rock triple platinum album “Infest,” which included the single “Last Resort.” First, there’s the name change from the irreverant Coby Dick to the more respectable Jacoby Shaddix. “Call me the artist formerly known as Coby Dick,” jokes the… Read more »
