This week my guest is Eric Melvin of the legendary punk band NOFX! NOFX are busy their farewell tour so I was really happy Melvin took the time to chat with me. Melvin has always been cool to me and Sum 41 and obviously if you’re a fan of punk rock you’re gonna wanna tune into this episode. Marking the beginning of their end, NOFX has dropped a new song and music video for their track, “I’m A Rat.” Taking advantage of Mickey Mouse entering the public domain in 2024, the legendary punk band had “Steamboat Fatty” embrace his kinky side and be incredibly self-indulgent with cheese. (Who of us hasn’t wanted to go ham on some cheese?) “I am a rat/And I don’t wanna hear your sermon/I am a vermin/And I’m always gonna gnaw on things/I know will aggravate you,” Fat Mike sings. It may seem unbelievable that NOFX has been churning out pop-punk and ska-punk hits for 40 years, but rest assured, the group is still up to their same antics after all this time in a new music video for “Darby Crashing Your Party.” The track first appeared on their 2022 record Double Album, an LP donning new favorites such as “Three Against Me” and “Don’t Count on Me.” Punk fans will surely love this song for its myriad references and Easter eggs regarding the genre.
