LOS ANGELES – Beyonce became the most decorated female on a Grammy night as she collected six trophies, including song of the year for her anthem “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it).”
The 52nd annual Grammy Awards added some heavy artillery to the roster of performers taking the stage on Jan. 31: nominees Green Day, Lady Gaga, and Pink.
The striking Hollywood writers guild said Tuesday it will refrain from picketing the upcoming Grammy Awards, possibly allowing the music ceremony to escape the fate of the wrecked Golden Globes show. The guild’s board of directors has yet to grant the music industry show a waiver that would allow union writers to work on the ceremony, but the Grammys typically depend more on performances than scripted lines or comedy. The Police came one step closer to confirming a reunion tour on Tuesday (January 30) when it was announced that the trio will kick off the February 11 Grammy Awards telecast. The group, led by Sting, has reportedly been rehearsing for a summer tour, and their opening slot at the 49th annual awards show seems to confirm that the announcement of the full-fledged reunion is on. The Police are set to reform at next month’s Grammy Awards, a number of internet news sites are reporting. The comeback, which is still unconfirmed, was initially reported by music site Side Line, and reveals the band plan to celebrate their 30 year anniversary with a big tour, reportedly “around 80 live dates”.
