During night one of their Dodger Stadium takeover on July 26, 2025, My Chemical Romance surprised fans with the debut of an unreleased track, “War Beneath The Rain.” The song is believed to be a holdover from the band’s scrapped Paper Kingdom project (aka MCR5), which was shelved before their 2013 breakup.
Ahead of the performance, frontman Gerard Way shared, “I don’t remember how long ago it was, but it was before the band broke up. We had a studio in North Hollywood, and we were making a record that never came out. This is one of the songs we really love from it, and it was [unintelligible] from the studio with our friend Doug McKean. He was there recording it. His family is here tonight, and I want this to go out to them.”

“War Beneath The Rain” Lyrics
If we all learn to die
Can most of us forget
That we’re not waiting for the end?
We don’t care about all the bad things that we did
Maybe me and you can just pretend
Summer days, the war beneath the rain
Under the last exploding light
Surface to air, or scream, my love will rise
Like weapons in the sky
If we all learn to die
Can most of us forget
That we’re not waiting for the end?
We don’t care about the bad things that we did
Maybe me and you can just pretend
Summer days, the hurt but not the pain
Under the last star falling out
If we’re not afraid to see without our eyes
And walk into the dark
If we all learn to die
Can most of us forget
That we’re not waiting for the end?
We don’t care about the good things that we found
Maybe me and you can just be friends
Maybe we can just pretend
Maybe we can just pretend
Maybe we can just pretend
Maybe we can just pretend
War
War
If we all learn to die
Can most of us forget
We’re not waiting for the end?
We don’t care about the bad things that we did
Maybe me and you can just…
Maybe me and you can…
If we all learn to die
Can most of us forget
We’re not waiting for the end?
We don’t care about the bad things that we did
Maybe me and you could just pretend
