Premiere: The Sound Of Curves’ “Gone Gatsby”

Adding to our day of premieres is Texas alt-rock band The Sound Of Curves. The quartet is bringing us an exclusive listen of their new single, and the title track to their upcoming release, “Gone Gatsby.”

We spoke with the band about the single and the upcoming album. Check out what they had to say below, while listening to the brand new track!

You mention the road being a big inspiration for this album. In what ways did it change you mindset and bring in these new goals and ideas?
Well for us the, being on the road really forces you as a group to be completely consumed with music.   The destinations, the fluidity, the comradery; it all added to this melting pot between the four of us.   It puts making music as a career really into perspective, that in turn makes for  moments that we could draw upon when  in the writing process.   It was also great to see a lot of really great bands and artists doing their thing out there too.

The title of your upcoming album, and this single, is  Gone Gatsby.  Does classic literature influence your music in more ways than just the title?
Not really.   We  all read  and knew the  story of Jay Gatsby from the novel, and that particular song has elements of desire and excess embedded pretty much throughout the whole song, but I wouldn’t go that far to say that all of the album has this representation of classic literature.   Most of our writings are based upon personal emotion, both hardship and success.   We did really just love the idea of “Gone Gatsby;” making a conscious choice to be excessive and vulnerable.

How do you think your Texas base benefits your music?
We love representing Texas and San Antonio in particular.   We are proud Texans I think you could say.   there are a lot of great cities out here and wonderful musicians doing their thing.   With that being said, we have had a lot of great experiences with our travels.   Being received by complete strangers with accolade is phenomenal, and that is where we want to reside.

What’s next for Sound Of Curves?
Next for us is getting back on the road.   The last 6 months, we have travelled as much as we ever have, and we know its necessary for us to reach our goals and thrive in this business.   We have a lot more music from the album that will be released this year and we couldn’t be more excited for people to hear it.
