If you have an internet connection, or haven’t been in a coma, you’ve probably heard about the announcement of Blink-182’s new album. Vocalist/guitarist Tom Delonge started the media uproar on Monday, with an Instagram post hinting a new album was soon to come from the band. Since then, the press coverage has been non-stop, with every outlet and every fan trying to wrap their hands around new details surrounding the rumor. The world of music news was convinced the album was a tangible object that was being recorded as they spoke.
When idobi Radio’s Eddie Barella sat down with vocalist/bassist Mark Hoppus for a pre-Alternative Press Music Awards interview, he had a bit of a different story to tell. The album might not be as certain as we’ve been led to believe, and our ability to take the exciting news and run with it might have been our downfall here. Hoppus states, “It got picked up by all these news outlets… and we haven’t started recording yet.”
Listen to the Eddie Jason & Chris show Friday at 9PM ET (6PM PT) to hear the entire interview.
