Good Charlotte Find Where There Is Love, There Is Hate

The past two years have been a turbo-charged merry-go-round for Maryland punk-pop group Good Charlotte. The band’s debut single, “Little Things,” from its eponymous 2000 album, drove the group to the top of the “TRL” heap, and a Warped tour and outing with Blink-182 helped spread the Good vibes far and wide. The group’s new single, “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous,” is currently heating up airwaves, and a video for the song, which features cameos by ‘NSYNC’s Chris Kirkpatrick, Tenacious D sideman Kyle Gass and former Minutemen and Firehose member Mike Watt, is getting lots of love as well.… Read more »

New Found Glory Get 'Toxic Avenger' Team For Clip, Drummer's Arm Falls Off

Just because New Found Glory are getting love from the “TRL” crowd doesn’t mean they’re changing their ways or cleaning up their act. Sure, the band’s next video is for the song “Head on Collision,” one of the slower, more melodic tracks from their latest album, Sticks & Stones. But the clip, directed by the Malloys, will reveal a previously unseen twisted side of the group thanks to the help of schlock horror production company Troma Films, which provided the makeup and special effects for the video. “Me and our singer Jordan are really big fans of ‘The Toxic Avenger’… Read more »

New Found Glory Dissect Their 'Friends'

They might have called their new album Sticks and Stones so that if critics trashed it they could retort by sneering, sticking out their tongues and saying, “names will never hurt me.” But that’s not the reason. For New Found Glory, names are as dangerous as flung fists, and throughout the record they reveal how damaged they’ve been by barbed words. “On the cover of the record we have a little girl beating up a guy,” guitarist Steve Klein explained recently. “When we were younger, relationships with girls were a lot easier. You could hit each other and it would… Read more »

System, Papa Roach Rage On Weenie Roast Stage While Jack Osbourne Holds Court

Not even his father could have said it better. “This is diet Ozzfest,” Jack Osbourne quipped backstage at the sold-out KROQ Weenie Roast. Southern California’s authoritative modern rock radio station hosted its 10th annual summer concert extravaganza on Saturday and, yes, it did offer a glimpse of the summer’s most anticipated tours, especially Ozzfest. Ozzy himself could not make the festivities, as his daughter Kelly was performing across the valley at KIIS’ Wango Tango radio show alongside the likes of Celine Dion and past Weenie Roast favorites No Doubt. Why wasn’t Jack there? “We don’t get along,” he clarified. Representing… Read more »

Teen Singer-Guitarist Avril Lavigne Celebrates Top 10 Debut With L.A. Show

When was the last time this happened: a breakthrough artist spends the night its album debuted in the top 10 on The Billboard 200 chart playing the opening slot at a tiny Sunset Strip club instead of headlining its own show – or partying like a rock star elsewhere in town? How about Wednesday (June 12) night, when current it-girl Avril Lavigne, who’s all of 17 years old, played an unexpectedly aggressive early set at the Viper Room in Hollywood. Though Lavigne was there, in theory, to warm the mostly-music-industry-crowd up for the hitless bands Lo Cal AM and Plain… Read more »

Blink-182, Tony Hawk To Appear On 'The Simpsons'

Anyone even remotely familiar with Blink-182 knows they’re one of the most animated bands in rock, and soon their funny fodder will be drawn from a place where groups such as Aerosmith, the Who, Spinal Tap and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have once touched down: Springfield. Blink-182 recorded their voice parts for the 300th episode of the animated Fox series on Wednesday, according to a network spokesperson. Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk is also set to appear in the same tricentennial show and will tape his vocals Monday. Papa Roach Provide The Rock For Rappers Black Eyed Peas

Just because the next Papa Roach album will be devoid of rapping doesn’t mean the band doesn’t have a little bit of hip-hop left in its blackened heart – which might explain why the group has booked studio time to work on a song with innovative rappers Black Eyed Peas. The track will appear on the next Black Eyed Peas record, due later this year. This isn’t the first time Papa Roach have been invited to collaborate with another group, but it’s the first time they’ve accepted an offer. “We’ve been holding out to actually work with an artist in… Read more »
