Texas-based punk rockers Bowling For Soup’s latest single to be released to radio is “Punk Rock 101.” The track is one of three that the band went back into the studio to record earlier this year with producer Butch Walker. In addition to “Punk Rock 101,” the band recorded “Smile,” and a cover of the ’80s A Flock of Seagulls hit “I Ran.” The band said that it is planning to re-release their album, Drunk Enough To Dance, with the new tracks included on it. Two bands have been comrades ever since Madden brothers became fans of Mest’s 2000 major-label debut. In the clip for “Jaded (These Years),” Mest reminisce about what life was like viewed through innocent eyes. Sum 41 recently recorded a new track with Iggy Pop for the rock icon’s forthcoming album, Skull Ring. The song, “Little Know It All” is a joint collaboration between Iggy, Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley and producer Greig Nori (Sum 41’s Does This Look Infected?) and features all four members of Sum 41 playing on it. Skull Ring is scheduled for a Fall release on Virgin Records. When radio programmers have hammered the final nail in the coffin of the Used’s “Buried Myself Alive,” the band will move on to “Blue and Yellow,” the fourth single from its self-titled album. The track is the group’s most melancholy and melodic. The taste of ink is sweet these days for the Used, who have signed on for next year’s Vans Warped Tour and will likely ink an agreement soon with another major summer outing. “Ozzfest too, I think.
