‘N Sync is revisiting its formative years in a one-hour video comprising previously unreleased footage from the days when the pop quintet flew coach and stayed in cheap hotels. “The Reel ‘N Sync,” shot and edited by band member Joey Fatone (news), will be released on DVD and VHS on Nov. 5, a spokesman for distributor Trauma Records said Wednesday. One of pop singer Christina Aguilera (news)’s latest music videos has Thais decrying not its explicit dancing and revealing costumes, but a Thai-language billboard in the backdrop that alludes to the country’s sex industry. Saharat Wannachomphu, marketing director for BMG Thailand Co., the local distributors of Aguilera’s new album, said the company had decided not to air the video for the song “Dirrty” on local television, the Nation newspaper reported this week. Sometimes success can be a double-edged sword. Just ask Crazy Town, the rap metal act that scored a major radio hit in 2000 with the lightweight pop song “Butterfly” and then suffered the consequences. “Drowning,” the first single from the band’s new album, Darkhorse (out November 12), was written on Ozzfest 2000, and at the time, Crazy Town felt as if they were underwater gasping for air. Disturbed are so proud of their new video for “Prayer” that they’ve decided not to let the mainstream see it. Last month, major video outlets chose not to air the clip because they felt the apocalyptic content was too reminiscent of footage of September 11 (see “Disturbed Video Deemed Too Disturbing; Band Examines Plan B”). At first, the band considered re-editing the video or replacing the scenes of destruction with concert footage. The first single from the long-awaited Foo Fighters album, 1X1 (One By One), is “All My Life.” Foo frontman Dave Grohl is set to direct the video shoot for the clip next week. As for the song itself, Grohl said it’s going to “shred your ass.” 1X1 is set for release October 22. The band is mixing the album now. Sheryl Crow looks to make it an endless summer with a string of headlining dates that will carry her into October. The shows are her first solo outings to promote her latest platinum album, C’mon, C’mon. They will follow five weeks of dates on the Jeep World Outside Festival with Train, Ziggy Marley and O.A.R., which wrap on August 17. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will step behind the camera to direct the first video from the band’s new album. The clip for “All My Life” is scheduled to be filmed in Los Angeles the week of August 12, according to the band’s publicist. The song has been tapped as the first single from the Foo Fighters’ fourth album, 1 X 1 (“One By One”), due October 22.
