Joey McIntyre To Host & Perform At The 15th Annual Boston Music Awards


Boston native Joey McIntyre will host the 15th annual Boston Music Awards (BMAs) at the city’s 2,700-seat Orpheum Theatre on Thursday (April 11). Acts scheduled to perform at the event include Godsmack, American Hi-Fi, Reveille, Bill Morrissey, Kay Hanley, Tracy Bonham, Tribe of Judah, Must, the Sheila Devine, Mission Of Burma, and, of course, McIntyre. FullAudio gets music publishers' license


Web music firm FullAudio on Thursday said it reached a licensing deal with the Harry Fox Agency Inc., a licensing agent representing more than 160,000 songwriters, for the online subscription service FullAudio plans to launch within weeks. Under this nonexclusive agreement, FullAudio will have access to every musical work authorized by participating publishers licensed by Harry Fox, a subsidiary of the National Music Publishers’ Association. Terms were not disclosed. The agreement also allows FullAudio subscribers to transfer tracks from their PCs to portable devices. Japan Firm Buys Tower Records Japan


Local management and a Japanese investment firm have bought the Japanese arm of Tower Records Inc., the country’s third-biggest music retailer, from its U.S.-based parent company for $122 million. The deal signs over Tower Records’ 51 outlets in Japan, including its multi-floor flagship store in downtown Tokyo, to Tower Records’ local management team and to Nikko Principal Investments Japan Ltd., a unit of Nikko Cordial Corp. Nikko spokesman Joichi Ito said his company finalized the buyout Thursday with San Francisco-based MTS Inc., parent company of Tower Records. Calling Guitarist 'Doing Fine' After Electrocution, Band Thought He Was Dead


Five days after being electrocuted onstage in Bangkok, Thailand and rushed to a hospital, Calling guitarist Aaron Kamin returned to his spot aside his fellow band members for a gig in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday (April 9). Kamin is in “great spirits and doing fine,” a band spokesperson said. Kamin received a jolt while soundchecking for a show on April 4-the sound equipment was “a little old and beat up,” according to Calling frontman Alex Band’s post on the group’s official website (thecallingband.com). Incubus Takes Its 'Morning View' To Arenas


Incubus kicks off its largest tour to date at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon on Thursday (April 11). The tour, in support of its current album, Morning View, will visit arenas in 49 cities in North America through early July, with open dates on the calendar expected to be filled with yet more shows. Hoobastank Ends Tour With 311, Starts Trek With Incubus


Hoobastank is finishing up dates with 311 on Wednesday (April 10) in Kansas City. The band is scheduled join Incubus on the Honda Civic tour on Thursday (April 11) in Portland, Oregon. Though charges have yet to be filed, R. Kelly continues to defend himself against allegations that he taped himself having sex with underage girls. Calling Guitarist Suffers Shock Onstage In Bangkok


Thai fans of the Calling were surprised to discover the pop group canceled Thursday’s show, though they couldn’t have been more shocked than lead guitarist Aaron Kamin. Kamin was almost electrocuted during soundcheck at Bangkok’s Brew Pavilion Thursday night (April 4), according to an RCA spokesperson. He was treated at a local hospital and released and is now nursing burns to his hands. The band plans to reschedule the show in the Thai capital. Pearlman Cleared of Child Labor Suit


Lou Pearlman, the hitmaker behind the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync, has been cleared of allegations that he broke child labor laws. The Florida Department of Labor said there was no evidence that Pearlman and his Orlando-based company, Trans Continental Entertainment, violated such rules as making minors work past 11:30 p.m, as alleged by the mother of two of his former entertainers.
