New tracks from Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship and Big City Rock will be found on the soundtrack for “TMNT – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Music from the Motion Picture,” due March 13 from iTunes and March 20 from traditional retail via Atlantic. Other artists on the soundtrack include Jet, Pepper, Meg & Dia and Amber Pacific. Johnny Ramone, guitarist and co-founder of the seminal punk band “The Ramones” that influenced a generation of rockers, has died. He was 55. Ramone, who had been fighting a five-year battle with prostate cancer, died in his sleep Wednesday afternoon at his Los Angeles home surrounded by friends and family, said the band’s longtime artistic director Arturo Vega. “He was the guy with a strategy. Three months after four fans sued Creed alleging that Scott Stapp was so wasted he couldn’t perform at a December show in Chicago, the band’s singer has responded and denied the allegations. In fact, Stapp told the Orlando Sentinel on Monday that, quite to the contrary, he was offering an over-the-top, dramatic gesture meant to convey the difficulties he was facing in his personal life at the time. Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong is turning to Charles Manson for salvation, and he’s bringing Kelly Osbourne and members of Blink-182, Green Day and AFI along for the ride. When he finishes this year’s Vans Warped Tour, Armstrong will put the finishing touches on the upcoming stop-motion animated film “Live Freaky! Die Freaky!” in which Manson surfaces in a post-apocalyptic wasteland to guide a group of survivors who are desperately searching for a spiritual leader.
