Coldplay Giving U.S. Another Shot


After cutting short a brief North American trek in February, Coldplay have announced plans to return to the States later this spring for a more extensive tour, set to kick off May 24 in Boston. The wistful Brit rock group has tapped Modesto, California’s Grandaddy to serve as the supporting act on the tour, which includes appearances on May 27 and 28 at the HFS Festival in Washington, D.C., and a June 23 KROQ-sponsored show in Los Angeles, according to Coldplay’s label. TVT Records Court Win In MP3 Battle


Indie label TVT Records, whose catalog boasts recordings from Nine Inch Nails and Guided by Voices, scored a victory in its legal fight against embattled music portal MP3.com, supported by a precedent set in court last year by the major labels. U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff granted TVT a partial summary judgment, affirming the label’s musical copyrights were willfully infringed by MP3’s digital music locker service, My.MP3.com. Rakoff said MP3 was not permitted to dispute TVT’s infringement claims on the grounds of collateral estoppel, a legal convention that says an issue that has been decided in a prior suit… Read more »
