Hot on the heels of his song of the year Grammy win earlier this month, singer/songwriter Richard Marx has signed with EMI/Manhattan Records. Marx picked up the Grammy for “Dance With My Father,” which he co-wrote with the tune’s singer, Luther Vandross. Marx, famed for late ’80s hits such as “Hold on to the Nights” and “Right Here Waiting,” is putting the finishing touches on an album slated for a summer release. If Sting wins a Grammy for Best Pop Male Vocal Performance this year, it will be the fourth time he will have had the honor bestowed upon him since 1992. Rick Van Santen, a co-president of Goldenvoice, a Los Angeles concert promotion company that ushered punk rock from the fringes of the music scene to a wide audience, died last Sunday at his home in Ventura County of flu-related complications, his Goldenvoice partner Paul Tollett said. He was 41.
