Aerosmith's Opening Night: Crazy Amazing For Hell's Angels And 'Jaded' Kids

Having performed brief sets everywhere from the Super Bowl to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the past few months, Aerosmith finally kicked off their much-anticipated Just Push Play tour Wednesday night. The band seemed under-rehearsed at times – frontman Steven Tyler missed a cue and flubbed a few lines during “Cryin’ ” – but overall, the band hit a groove, and stuck in it. During the best parts of the show at the ctnow.com Meadows Music Center, they demonstrated why, at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Kid Rock called them “America’s Greatest… Read more »

Travis Want To Be As Big As U2

Scottish pop group Travis believe they may become as big as U2, the group’s frontman, Fran Healy, told a newspaper interviewer. “Do we think we can be as big as U2? It would be rude not to,” he told The Sun. “It’s about longevity and staying together through the madness. U2 are a great example of a band who’ve gone on for more than 20 years, written good songs and kept their integrity. “They are a great role model. They’re doing well and that’s refreshing because they can still move people and write great songs in an incredibly ageist industry.”… Read more »

Napster The Movie – Coming To A Screen Near You?

It’s got plenty of the right ingredients – lawsuits, money and rock ‘n’ roll. That’s right. Napster the movie may be coming to a screen near you! “I can confirm we’re in development on a project called ‘Napster’,” said Marc McCarthy, a spokesman for Starz Encore, a provider of movie programming for cable television operators that is a unit of Liberty Media Group. McCarthy said there was no commitment for production of the movie on Napster. Nevertheless, the story of the phenomenally popular song-swap service that turned the $40 billion recording industry upside down is a natural for Hollywood spin… Read more »

Launch Media, Webcasters Sue Recording Industry

Several major Webcasters including Launch Media Inc., MTVi Group, MusicMatch Inc., and Listen.com Friday struck back at the recording industry by filing a countersuit in a music licensing dispute they say threatens their livelihoods. The suit was filed in federal court in San Francisco in response to a lawsuit filed by the recording industry last week against music portal Launch Media for allegedly failing to seek proper licenses for its personalized Web radio service, the companies said. At issue is whether Webcasters that allow users to personalize their Internet radio services should be allowed to join the rest of the… Read more »

Rock And Rain At RFK

Fat chance Melanie Szepvolgyi is going to forget this year’s HFStival. She was as surprised as anyone yesterday when lead singer Chris Martin pulled her up on stage to sing. “I was in the front of the stage, and nobody knew them up there. [People in the crowd] were being so rude and obnoxious,” said the still-glowing 24-year-old who had flown in from Columbus, Ohio. “Then they started playing my favorite song,… Read more »
