The Britney And Justin Mystery: Why They Won't Come Clean

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake love each other very much and have not broken up. At least that’s still the “official” stance a spokesperson for the couple takes when asked of the status of their relationship. And if you believe that, some might think you were born yesterday. The official media statement is in direct opposition to a month’s worth of unconfirmed reports and anonymous eyewitness accounts that say the king and queen of the teen-pop prom have ended their reign. While public opinion favors the notion that the romance is kaput – gossip columnists citing Britney shakin’ it with… Read more »

April 17, 2002, 10:00 am PT Blink-182One of this summer’s must-see concert tours would have to be Pop Disaster (allstar, Feb. 15), which kicks off Wednesday (April 17) in Bakersfield, Calif. If the lineup – Green Day, Blink-182, Jimmy Eat World, and Saves the Day – isn’t enough, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker promises a drum stunt that will put Tommy Lee to shame. “I have a surprise for my drum solo in the middle of one song,” Barker tells allstar. “It’s crazier than Tommy Lee.” Barker is keeping mum on the specifics, but let it be said that the somersault… Read more »

Ex-Van Halen Singers Team Up For Sam & Dave Tour

It’s not exactly what Van Halen fans had hoped for, but it’s definitely intriguing. David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, former singers for the group, will co-headline a national tour beginning May 29 near Cleveland. And if Tuesday’s (April 16) press conference to announce the outing is any indication, Diamond Dave and the Red Rocker are going to be the perfect pairing. Like a rock and roll comedy duo, the blond bastions of partying traded gags one-after-another at the Sky Bar, setting each other up and flashing face-wide grins at each punch line. “Sammy and I are like fraternity brothers… Read more »

Jay-Z, Ja Rule, P. Diddy Planned Triple Threat Tour – Then Bagged It

Imagine one of the biggest hip-hop outings in history taking shape this summer. It would be dubbed the Triple Threat Tour and feature multiplatinum acts Ja Rule, Jay-Z and P. Diddy. To top it off, each would bring with him his musical family. Representing with Ja Rule would be Ashanti and the rest of Murder Inc. Jay would “Roc the Mic” with his boys Beanie Sigel, Cam’ron and Memphis Bleek. And Diddy and his Bad Boy crew would do their thing. Keep imagining; although it was almost a reality, the tour has been called off. Last week, while promoting her… Read more »

Bob Dylan Shows Berlin Who The Man Is – Review

Nearly 40 years after he wrote the lyric “He not busy being born is busy dying,” Bob Dylan clearly still believes that estimation is right on the mark. Looking snazzy in a black cowboy hat and old-school Western suit, the 60-year-old folk-rock icon was tireless, fearless and masterful throughout his 140-minute show Thursday at the Arena. Within shouting range of Treptow Park, where he played in 1987 when the area was still communist East Germany, the Arena is a onetime bus depot and hangar that now serves as one of the city’s largest music venues. The 7,500-capacity, standing-room-only space served… Read more »

Britpop veterans Oasis release their first single in nearly two years on Monday as they strive to recapture their 1990s glory years. “Hindu Times,” a typical slice of Oasis guitar-driven rock, goes on sale across Britain a month after a leaked copy found its way onto the internet. The band’s brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have won mixed reviews for the single, their first since “Sunday Morning Call” in July 2000. “It is a welcome return to their heyday noize (sic)… resurrected as the sound of 100 bulldozers driving into a mountain of gemstones,” the New Musical Express said in… Read more »

After a long re-audition process to fill the late Aaliyah’s shoes, “The Matrix: Reloaded” finally lives up to its name. Nona Gaye, the daughter of Marvin Gaye who was recently seen acting alongside Will Smith in “Ali” and heard on last fall’s “What’s Going On” benefit single, has been chosen to play Zee in the two upcoming sequels to the 1999 sci-fi thriller “The Matrix,” according to Variety. The role was originally set to be portrayed by Aaliyah, who had filmed portions of “Reloaded” before she died last summer in a plane crash. The character of Zee will be introduced… Read more »
