Godsmack, Nickelback, System Of A Down On 'Scorpion King' Soundtrack


Godsmack, System of a Down, Creed and Nickelback will contribute new songs to Music from and Inspired by “The Scorpion King”, the soundtrack to the third Mummy movie. The disc is due March 26th. The Godsmack song, “I Stand Alone,” will be the collection’s first single, hitting radio stations February 5th. P. Diddy To Co-Host 'Live With Regis And Kelly'


Add television co-host to hip-hop and fashion mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ list of steady occupations. After co-hosting the American Music Awards last week with Jenny McCarthy, Combs was asked to sit in for Regis Philbin on this Friday’s edition of “Live With Regis and Kelly,” according to the show’s spokesperson. Combs, who was originally scheduled to be a guest on the program, will join co-host Kelly Ripa in interviewing actor Chuck Norris and country star Willie Nelson. The rapper filmed a video last week with Busta Rhymes for their duet, “Pass the Courvoisier”.

Britney Spears Signs Worldwide Marketing Deal With Skechers


Britney Spears has signed an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Skechers USA Footwear Company to appear in advertising for the company’s 4 Wheelers roller-skate line. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Skechers will have the right to advertise and sell a Spears collection of 4 Wheelers and skate accessories in the United States and throughout the world. Sheryl Crow Gets More Friends


The track listing for Sheryl Crow’s follow-up to 1998’s The Globe Sessions has been firmed up, and the album is now slated for March. Crow spent time in New York City last year working on the record, popping up for star-studded surprise gigs that included appearances by the likes of Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kid Rock. Backstreet Boys Turned Into Rabbits, Bears


Although two of the Backstreet Boys have gotten into some adult-oriented trouble of late, in August, fans can catch the group projected in a much more child-like light. The pop quintet will be rendered as animated manimals (part man, part animal) in an hour-long special broadcast of the PBS children’s cartoon “Arthur,” in which all the characters are drawn with some amalgam of human and animal characteristics. Napster launches test of new secure service


Napster launched a test version of its new copyright-compliant service Thursday in a bid to restart the once wildly popular song-swap Web site that was shut down by a record industry lawsuit. The test or “beta” version, which lacks content from the major music labels, is not open to the public. Instead, it will be offered to 20,000 people randomly selected from a group of more than two million who e-mailed Napster showing interest in participating in the beta test.
