JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Paul McCartney will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 6 as the NFL goes mainstream after the controversy over last February’s show. “There’s nothing bigger then being asked to perform at the Super Bowl,” McCartney said. “We’re looking forward to rocking the millions at home and in the stadium.” Last Feb. 1 at Houston’s Reliant Stadium, singer Justin Timberlake ripped off part of singer Janet Jackson’s outfit, exposing her right breast to a TV audience of some 90 million people. CBS is protesting an FCC fine of $550,000 for the halftime show. Clearly, the league… Read more »

U2 Set to Explode Worldwide

Los Angeles – U2 has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide and won 14 Grammy Awards during the course of its 26-year career, so you would think that there would be a level of ease that comes with a new release. Not so, says the Irish band’s longtime manager Paul McGuinness. “There is absolutely no resting on our laurels,” he tells Billboard. “I say to people we have to break the band every time we put out a record.” And this is with an album that McGuinness expects to debut at No. 1 in “32 or 33 countries.” “How… Read more »

Sum 41 Video Skit Deemed Unsuitable For Children

While Sum 41 were on tour with Good Charlotte last week, the show made the local news. The report, however, could have been a little more positive. The clip shows drummer Stevo, decked out in the dorkiest basketball uniform he could find – complete with knee-high socks, wristbands, short-shorts and sports goggles – challenging a demurely dressed bassist Cone to a game of hoops. Cone, of course, righteously… Read more »

Infinity declined further… Read more »

Skinny Puppy Pull Back Their Masks – Review

Things aren’t going well. Sure, everyone’s favourite bumpkin/despot has just been put in charge of the world’s biggest army again, but when it comes to portents, that’s nothing compared to Skinny Puppy touring a new record. Few bands have captured fear, tension and apocalyptic misery as well as the Vancouver industrial icons and with Herr Bush entrenched for another four years, it makes perfect sense that Ogre and cEvin Key (aka Kevin Ogilivie and Kevin Crompton) would choose now to re-emerge with a new record and a new stage show. And judging by the large Kool Haus crowd of older… Read more »
