Train's Colin Dances With Merchant


Train bassist Charlie Colin was “dragged” on stage during a set by Natalie Merchant in Detroit last week (December 11) in order to dance with her, according to Train’s website (trainline.com). “He was living proof that musicians really do become musicians because they can’t dance!” Colin’s bandmates joke, adding, “Nah…he did fine.” Train and Merchant were sharing the bill of a holiday festival sponsored by a Detroit-area radio station. Green Day To Appear At X Games


Green Day will bring its pop-punk sounds to ESPN’s Winter X Games VI, taking place in Aspen, Colorado next month. The trio will perform January 19, day three of the renowned four-day extreme sports festival. Excerpts from the concert will appear on EXPN 2Day, ESPN’s monthly television series hosted by Tony Hawk and Sal Masekela. Blink-182's Barker, Perfect Circle's Freese At 'Drum Day'


Blink-182’s Travis Barker and A Perfect Circle’s Josh Freese will perform at this year’s Drum Day L.A. festival at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles Saturday (December 8). The event, sponsored by drum manufacturer DW, will also feature a drum circle for all-comers and the Guitar Center’s Drum Off Grand Final. Paul Oakenfold, BT Throwing New Year's Block Party In L.A.


The second annual Center of the Universe on Hollywood Boulevard will feature three stages showcasing those DJs and others, including Sander Kleinenberg, DJ Sneak and Marques Wyatt. BT, whose profile rose this year after producing ‘NSYNC’s “Pop”, will be performing a rare live set, according to organizers. This year’s event will be held on seven city blocks between Vine Street and Whitley Avenue and is expected to draw 20,000 people, twice the number who turned out for last year’s Paul van Dyk-headlined festival. Nelly Furtado will visit a Los Angeles-area high school next week to offer advice on the music industry to students. In the downtime between their recently wrapped Pledge of Allegiance tour with Slipknot and a series of December radio festivals, System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has recorded a full-length collaboration with noted Armenian multi-instrumentalist Arto Tuncboyaciyan. The tentatively titled “Serart” is slated for release next year on Tankian’s own Serjical Strike Records. XM Rig Tours NASCAR Winston Cup Circuit


Rounding out its programming lineup as it launches the nation’s first digital satellite radio service, XM Satellite Radio’s “NASCAR Rig” will tour the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit throughout the Southern United States this fall.
