New York – Rock quartet Fiction Plane is wrapping work on an EP that will constitute its first new music since the 2003 release of its MCA debut, “Everything Will Never Be OK.” Dubbed “Bitter Forces and Lame Race Horses,” the upcoming set is led by the track “American Standard,” which was mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent (U2, Oasis, Bjork). But indefatigable frontman Conor Oberst is hitting the road again next month with friends/Saddle Creek labelmates the Faint; this tour will focus on Bright Eyes’ other new LP, the more experimental, electronic Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. New York – The title track and first single from Bruce Springsteen ‘s upcoming album, “Devils & Dust,” will premiere beginning 12:01 a.m. Monday (March 28) via AOL Music’s First Listen initiative. The next day, it will be available for download exclusively from Apple’s iTunes Music Store for a week. “Devils & Dust” is due April 26 via Columbia as a DualDisc with the audio tracks on one side and various bonus content on the DVD side. Los Angeles – Collectibility is coming to the digital music world in the form of iTunes Custom Cards. Apple launched the prepaid cards Thursday at the South by Southwest Music Conference & Festival in Austin, with a limited-edition, numbered series of cards featuring original artwork and download codes specific to more than 200 recording artists. The cards can be used to obtain a specific single from Apple’s iTunes and are being distributed at shows, press conferences and other events throughout the festival. The Vans Warped Tour has officially announced the lineup and itinerary for the 11th annual edition of the punk/skating tour. As previously reported by MTV News, the bill for the oldest touring festival in the U.S. will be topped by the Offspring and My Chemical Romance, along with the Transplants, MxPx, All-American Rejects, Dropkick Murphys, Thrice, Atreyu and Senses Fail. Pharrell Williams was certainly flattered by Jamie Cullum’s rendering of “Frontin’,” a bonus track on the British jazz singer and pianist’s breakthrough album, Twentysomething. “He heard it and wanted to meet with me,” Cullum revealed recently. That meeting led to the Neptunes agreeing to work on Cullum’s next album.
