A radio was blasting when Howard Kroeger, director of operations and programing for CHUM Broadcasting’s Winnipeg stations, arrived at his friend’s 40th-birthday bash. Temecula, California, emo quintet Finch have been plenty busy since exchanging fisticuffs with bro-rockers Disturbed at last summer’s Rolling Rock Town Fair. The group has finished a new album, Say Hello to Sunshine, and is scheduled to kick off a tour this week. It’s officially ok for me to start dating Hilary Duff. In case you haven’t heard, she’s a college girl now, cramming in a few online classes in her free time through the Harvard Extension School. Unfortunately, when she made this announcement on her Web site a month ago, she chose to omit the word “Extension” and in doing so implied that she went to the “real” Harvard. Kings Of Leon A snowy day in Toronto seems about as far away from Tennessee as you can get, so it’s no wonder that the four Kings Of Leon are a little out of sorts. The Followill brothers and cousin obviously aren’t in high spirits. Drummer Nathan is mostly silent as he strides around the room, occasionally taking vitamin C drops. Lead singer Caleb sullenly complains that their Canadian press has all been “bullshit.” Guitarist Matthew is rarely seen at all. Los Angeles – Recording industry executive Andy Gershon sees opportunity in the online file-sharing networks that most of his rivals decry as havens for music pirates.
