This week in my final Badflower series, I have the band Badflower all together in the back of their tour bus! We are all talking and we’re hanging out, and I was out with them filling in as a tour manager for them. I get to hear their prospectives on how far they’ve come in being a band, as well as more off the wall conversation.
This week I catch up with friend and founding member/guitarist Joey Morrow of Badflower, I was on the road with these guys May/June being a tour manager and on the off day I did an interview with Joey on the back of their bus, and I got to learn about how he got started with music and how that led to Badflower.
This week I have long time friend and bass player from the band Badflower, I met him back a while back but we actually hit it off when I was in Ventura, and came outside of the bathroom pier, and he and I were the only people there, and we recognized each other, so we hung out and the friendship spawned from there! I learn about his history on how he got into music.
This week I have Anthony Sonetti from the band Badflower, all of July 2023 I’m going to be having a different band member on the show and eventually the entire band will come together at the end. I interview each of them on the back of their tour bus, I was out with them acting as a Tour Manager for them filling in. It was a great time and we look back on each of the interviews as I find out their point of views on how the band got together and where all of them started. This week, Anthony tells me how he got involved in music and eventually going into Badflower.
This week I have singer/songwriter from the band Mest, he and I go back over 21 years, I met him for the first time in Texas when I was on a tour in 2002 that an old band of mine had booked themselves, and we met him in the parking lot after we had one of our self booked shows get canceled. We ended up talking and would see each other throughout the years, fast forward time and we became friends and I even got to fill in for Mest at a show in LA. I interview him to see how he started out in Illinois all the way to today.
This week I have long time friend and drumming mentor Aaron Stern from the band Matchbook Romance, I did one of my earliest tours along side him in 2006 and we’ve been friends ever since, he is also now the Vice President of Marketing for RCA records; we talk about how he got his start and how he got to where he is today.
This week I have artist Magic Whatever, we talk about how he got his start in music. I saw him play at the top of the year when my friend Chase Vernon (a great drummer) was playing in the band, I got to meet Magic Whatever, and the rest is history. I wanted to bring him on my show to learn more about his life in music and in California.
This week I have long time friend and drummer Chris Kamrada from the band Dashboard Confessional, I first was introduced to him by JR from Less Than Jake when JR was managing Kamrada’s band “There For Tomorrow.” Chris and I then for many years would be up for a lot of the same drumming gigs and would tour along side each other, we got to know each other on the road but I brought him on to get the story of how he got to where he is today.
This week I have long time friend and guitar player Dan Palmer from the bands: Zebrahead and Death By Stereo, I did one of my first tours with Dan in 2002, and we’ve been friends ever since, his singer Efrem from Death By Stereo was one of my very first friends moving to LA as well. I learn Dan’s story about how he got to where he is and all the bands he’s been in over the years.
This week I have long time friend Andie D’Avino, she is behind all of the marketing for The Grove Of Anaheim, a very prestigious venue in Orange County California! She was also the first manager I ever had and for 2 bands that I was in (Fairview/I Am Ghost) we talk about that as well. I talk to her about how she got started in the music business and how it’s led her to where she is today.
