Santa Monica, Ca – Takeover Records has announced the addition of Near Miss and Inspection 12 to their label roster. Jacksonville artists Inspection 12 have been making great music since 1994. Their first large scale record, “In Recovery,” was released by Honest Don’s Barely Legal Recordings in May of 2001. Inspection 12’s influences range from punk to country, hard rock to classical. Prancing around in flattened, jet-black hair and with eyeliner so thick that Keith Richards would cringe, it’s no wonder that screamo mongers From First To Last (or From Worst To Ass as some were calling them) weren’t exactly hitting it off with the aging skater punks that comprise most of Bad Religion ‘s fanbase. A tiny Brooklyn, New York, record label is redefining the age-old battle of the punks vs. the suits. Go-Kart Records founder Greg Ross has a problem with the RIAA’s use of lawsuits to fight online piracy, so he began giving away music for free on Friday. First he wrote an open letter to the recording industry trade group, lambasting its take on the problem of illegal downloading. It was as if the tattooed hand of a punk rock god reached down and anointed Andrew W.K.
