Singer sues U.S. FCC over indecency ruling


Singer Sarah Jones on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission, arguing that a ruling that one of her songs broadcast on a radio station was indecent violated her constitutional rights. Last May, after receiving a complaint, the FCC proposed fining the non-commercial radio station KBOO-FM in Portland, Oregon, $7,000 for the broadcast of a rap song entitled “Your Revolution” that contains “unmistakable patently offensive sexual references.” The regulator had rejected an argument by the station that the material was not indecent and that the agency has to consider the artistic merit in deciding whether material is indecent.… Read more »

No Doubt To Launch Rock Steady Roadshow In March


No Doubt are taking their Rock Steady to the streets, beginning in mid-March. The ska-turned-reggae rock quartet will launch its first proper tour in support of its latest album, Rock Steady, with two offshore dates in Puerto Rico and Venezuela, on March 14 and 16, respectively, according to an Interscope Records spokesperson. 'NSYNC Bringing Smash Mouth, Ginuwine On Tour


‘NSYNC have reached outside of the singing group world for the opening acts on their upcoming Celebrity 2002 Tour, recruiting Smash Mouth and Ginuwine. The raspy rockers and the sensual R&B singer are confirmed for the outing, though an ‘NSYNC spokesperson said it hasn’t been determined which artist will play which dates. Smash Mouth’s spokesperson said the band will join ‘NSYNC on a string of Texas, Midwest and Northeast shows from March 19 to April 15. 'N Sync Gearing Up For Arena Tour


‘N Sync will tour North American arenas in the coming months in support of its 2001 Jive album, “Celebrity.” A full itinerary has not yet been unveiled, but dates are so far confirmed for five shows, beginning March 3 at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore. Alien Ant Farm, Fenix TX and Glassjaw are among the bands on board for the seventh annual SnoCore festival. Limp Bizkit San Francisco Area Guitar Search Postponed


The San Francisco-area date of Limp Bizkit’s “Put Your Guitar Where Your Mouth Is” guitarist search set for Friday (January 11) was cancelled due to problems obtaining the proper permits, according to the band’s website. The event was to take place just outside the city at the Guitar Center in Concord, California, but things weren’t exactly in order, store manager Frank Gutwein revealed. “I don’t want to address the reasons why, but it was cancelled due to uncontrollable circumstances. Sum 41 Has 'Motivation,' Talks About Changed America


Sum 41 is following up the hit “Fat Lip” and its latest single “In Too Deep” with “Motivation.” The track is the third single off All Killer No Filler, and the video for the clip is being lensed by director Mark Klasfeld, who worked on the band’s previous two clips.
