Since Sum 41 are planning to tour well through the spring, fans eagerly waiting for the group to re-enter the studio and bash out some more floor-shaking alt-punk anthems will have to hang tight at least a little longer. Incubus's Brandon Boyd Saved By A Honda

Incubus is headlining the Honda Civic tour this spring, and the auto maker is closer to the heart of singer Brandon Boyd than one might guess. Boyd has said that a Honda car actually saved his life. LAUNCH asked Boyd about the incident: “I was careened into by a large Mercedes-Benz while we were making our last record, and I didn’t die,” he explained. Boyd added, “While recording our last record, Make Yourself, I had been driving a Honda Civic for a couple of years. It was a great car-I got my surfboard in it. 'NSYNC Promise Surprises, Coziness On Celebrity 2002 Tour

‘NSYNC have some surprises in store for fans who presume two massive tours supporting the same album – last year’s Celebrity – is a bit redundant. For the Celebrity 2002 trek, which kicks off March 3 in Portland, Oregon, the pop quintet have traded in stadiums for the cozier confines of arenas, allowing for stripped down, more intimate performances – that is, if your idea of intimate is snuggling up with nearly 20,000 other likeminded pop lovers. Another way the band plans to refrain from giving a repeat performance of PopOdyssey, which began nearly two months before Celebrity was released,… Read more »

Suge Knight Gives Hip-Hop Summit Something To Talk About

What was supposed to be a peaceful, private gathering of the West Coast hip-hop community on Thursday turned into a heated four-hour open-mic assembly dominated by two very different sermons: one from Minister Louis Farrakhan and one from Death Row Records founder Marion “Suge” Knight. Tempers flared at the West Coast Hip-Hop Summit inside the posh ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel when Knight spent much of his time at the podium insulting everyone from Dr. Dre, Eminem and Master P to Janet Jackson, women and homosexuals. Knight’s tirades prompted a few outbursts and resulted in several people storming out… Read more »

Limp Bizkit Frontman Durst Offers Message To 'Haters'

The always-evocative Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst weathered another round of negative reaction in the last few weeks, this time related to its nationwide audition tour for a new guitarist. Some trying out reportedly complained about the process, including having their 60 seconds in the spotlight cut short, while one would-be Bizkit member even suggested in a much-forwarded email that the group was potentially stealing individuals’ music by having them sign off on a release form. Speaking to LAUNCH at the close of the audition tour, Durst offered a solution to the group’s critics, or “haters,” as he prefers to… Read more »

Singer sues U.S. FCC over indecency ruling

Singer Sarah Jones on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission, arguing that a ruling that one of her songs broadcast on a radio station was indecent violated her constitutional rights. Last May, after receiving a complaint, the FCC proposed fining the non-commercial radio station KBOO-FM in Portland, Oregon, $7,000 for the broadcast of a rap song entitled “Your Revolution” that contains “unmistakable patently offensive sexual references.” The regulator had rejected an argument by the station that the material was not indecent and that the agency has to consider the artistic merit in deciding whether material is indecent.… Read more »
