Singer Fred Durst Sues Web Site Operators

Los Angeles – Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst is suing 10 Web site operators who the rocker claims profited from posting an explicit video stolen from his home computer showing him having sex with a former girlfriend. The lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, seeks more than $70 million in damages and any profits reaped by the Web site operators in recent weeks, when the 3-minute clip began appearing on the Internet. In the complaint, Durst contends that the video, which he shot in 2003, was never meant for public viewing. By disseminating the clip,… Read more »

Return of the Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet Boys, whose hits such as “Everybody” and “As Long As You Love Me” catapulted them into popster superstardom in the ’90s, are ready to stage a comeback. The megaselling quintet announced plans to play a string of U.S. club dates starting Mar. 21 in New York in preparation for the release of their as-yet untitled upcoming studio album in July-their first album since 2000’s Black and Blue. As of now, the club tour is set to wrap in St. Louis on Apr. 10, but more dates are expected to be added. Once the album is released, Backstreet plans… Read more »

Fred Durst Says Sex Video Was Stolen From His Computer

SANTA MONICA, California – Just days after Paris Hilton’s T-Mobile Sidekick was hacked, unleashing her topless photos and celeb-packed phonebook across the Internet, a sex video featuring Fred Durst hit the Web along with reports that it was the work of the same hacker. Though the explicit clip features the words “T-Mobile Terrorist” on it, the Limp Bizkit singer said the footage was definitely not stolen from his PDA. “If you look on Paris’ thing, I don’t use T-Mobile,” Durst said with a laugh on Friday (February 25), referring to the list of Hilton’s phone numbers that also leaked and… Read more »

Year End Readers' Poll: Avril And Simple Plan's Pierre Are S-E-X-Y

As promised yesterday, we’re back to update you on the remaining categories in Chart’s Year End Readers’ Poll. Yesterday we reported that Simple Plan were leading the votes in the music-based categories, but who are our readers rooting for in the Sexiest Canadian Musician categories? At press time, about 600 of you had filled out the poll and the majority of you fancy Pierre Bouvier, lead singer of Simple Plan. In a distant second place in our Throw Your Underwear (Male) category is The Tea Party’s Jeff Martin, followed by the more, er, mature William Shatner, who is quite surprisingly… Read more »

Cleanest Cut Backstreet Boy To Release Christian Album

Backstreet Boys fans (who are probably now all pushing 30 at this point) are a patient lot. The ’90s boy band, who haven’t released an album since 2001, have been promising a comeback for ages now, but have yet to deliver. According to Billboard.com, the Backstreet loyal will be awarded for their patience in 2005, when there will be not one, but two Backstreet-y albums in stores. First up, the original five Backstreet Boys are still reportedly working hard on the long-awaited follow-up to their 2001 album, Black And Blue. The boys, who are all surely men by now (especially… Read more »

Train Wrecks Galore At VH1 Big In '04 Awards

Los Angeles – Wednesday’s VH1 Big in ’04 awards show was a terrifying example of life imitating art, one that was dreadfully similar to “Saturday Night Live”‘s “Train Wreck Awards” skit from a few weeks ago. There was Anna Nicole Smith, just slightly more coherent than she was at the American Music Awards, threatening to flash the Shrine Auditorium audience after accepting the Big Makeover of ’04 award. There was ultimate odd couple, Flavor Flav and Brigitte Nielsen, fondling each other from the “beige carpet” to the stage, which they entered on a horse-drawn carriage. (They also tried to fondle… Read more »

Video Music Awards Sizzling but Shock Free

Holding its festivities for the first time in the city of skin, Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards was sizzling, energetic and colorful – yet tame, by MTV standards. There were no wardrobe malfunctions (sorry TiVo). Britney didn’t kiss Madonna like last year – or anyone else, for that matter (neither were at the blowout affair). The most skin shown was from Usher, who preened in front of the camera barechested as simulated raindrops fell on his chiseled body during the opening performance. Even the Christina Aguilera was classy, dressed sexy yet demurely as she debuted a jazzy number, “Tilt Ya… Read more »

Timberlake Out of Sync?

After you’ve disrobed Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl, and presumably disrobed Cameron Diaz someplace, can you really go back to being just one of the boys? For Justin Timberlake, the answer is no, per a report in the new People magazine. Timberlake “doesn’t want any part” of a planned ‘N Sync reunion, a source says in People. “Justin said he’s not in the mood and doesn’t think it will work,” the spy tells the magazine. ‘N Sync, with the Backstreet Boys, the leading boy band of the teen-pop explosion of the late 1990s/early 2000s, has been on hiatus since… Read more »

N.E.R.D., Black Eyed Peas Take Hollywood By Storm – But Justin Steals The Show

Of all the things N.E.R.D. and Black Eyed Peas have in common – a progressive hip-hop sound, a talented live band, a vibrant catalog of songs – what most impressed Thursday’s crowd was a mutual friend. That’s what happens when you’re homies with Justin Timberlake… or, to his friends, J.T. The crowd at the sold-out Wiltern LG Theater went into an uproar midway through the Peas’ encore of “Where Is the Love?” when Timberlake casually strolled onstage to sing the song’s classic “People living, people dying…” hook. At that point, the promoters might as well have added Justin’s name to… Read more »

Glitz, Star Power Heats Up at Super Bowl

For the humdrum New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers, putting on a show to match the glitz, glitter and star power of the rest of Super Bowl Sunday was no easy task. Typical of America’s biggest unofficial holiday, the game was only the icing on an over-the-top extravaganza. There was a gleaming new $450 million stadium to show off, a slew of pricey new ads, and Beyonce, Janet Jackson and P. Diddy to share the field. The biggest cliffhanger of the week wasn’t who would win, but whether Janet’s brother, Michael, would show up. He didn’t, but Justin Timberlake did,… Read more »
