Christina's New Genie on the Bottle

Suddenly there’s a whole new meaning to “Come On Over Baby” for Christina Aguilera. The five-time Grammy winner and hubby Jordan Bratman welcomed their first child in Los Angeles on Friday. The couple announced the birth in a quick text message to friends and family around 4 p.m.: “Baby has arrived. Mom and dad are doing well!” (Apparently not even the prospect of dirrty diapers can dampen their spirits.) There were no further details immediately available. However, a rep for the singer disputed the delivery dispatch. “The information you have is inaccurate,” the spokesperson said without elaboration. “We will let… Read more »

Nicole Richie delivers baby girl in L.A.

Socialite Nicole Richie and her rock-star boyfriend became the parents of a daughter in Los Angeles on Friday, People magazine reported. Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, People said, quoting a spokesman for Richie’s manager. It is the first child for Richie, 26, and Joel Madden, 28, the lead singer of pop-punk band Good Charlotte. Richie, the adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie, has become a tabloid staple in recent years on account of her party-hopping lifestyle, stick-thin figure, and fractured friendship with Paris Hilton, her co-star in the reality TV series “The Simple Life.” A… Read more »

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz's "Sex Tape"

It’s an increasingly diverse club, the old celebrity sex tape clique. And according to the tabloids today, it looked as if Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz had joined the likes of Paris Hilton, Tommy Lee, and Pamela Anderson, as steamy footage of the bass-wielding star getting all saucy with a young lady started circulating on the Internet. Alas, Wentz was quick to explain (on his blog, of course) that the footage is simply a scene from a short film called Goodnight Moon. “I just wanted to put the word out on the streets/the internet [that] there is no Pete Wentz… Read more »

Smashing Pumpkins fans are eager to find out who is joining Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin in the soon-to-relaunch group and to hear its upcoming reunion album, Zeitgeist. But a pair of 21-year-old men might have taken their fandom a bit too far over the weekend. At the same time, MTV News reached out to the woman who has reportedly been tapped to be the new Pumpkins bassist and found out … well, that we’ll all find out who’s joining Jimmy and Billy in a few weeks. Joshua Kuhl of Madison, Wisconsin, and Simon Brown of Rockford, Illinois, allegedly… Read more »

Simon Says Antonella's Time is Up; Melinda Aces it Again

We’re not even 20 seconds into the show, and Ryan Seacrest is already suggesting that we’re in for one helluva train wreck tonight. “We don’t havhe Paula! But we’ll find her, right?” This is “American Idol”? It’s the last round of semifinal performances, and nothing could be worse than Tuesday’s embarrassing men’s show . Well, I guess if they let Antonella sing for the entire episode I’d reconsider that statement. But with a group of girls this talented, even an off-night would be worth watching. And Paula’s top-of-the-show disappearing act certainly suggests that it may be chock full of potential… Read more »

Lavigne back in a high-energy pop-punk mood

When Avril Lavigne released album No. 2 in 2004, the spunky teen pop star announced to the world that she was growing up. Gone were the baggy pants and skater-chick image that first earned Lavigne the media-christened nickname of “the anti-Britney.” On that year’s “Under My Skin,” punky anthems like “Sk8er Boi” were replaced largely with grammatically correct, midtempo teen-angst rockers. The album was released a few months shy of Lavigne’s 20th birthday, and the black-and-white Goth imagery made it clear that Lavigne was dealing with some intense late-teen issues. Today, Lavigne is done with all that. On April 17,… Read more »

Britney Spears May Have Entered Rehab

Britney Spears, who has faced public criticism for her partying ways since divorcing Kevin Federline in November, reportedly entered a rehab clinic earlier this week, only to check out soon after. Although her spokespeople have yet to confirm it, several outlets (initiated by “Extra”) claim that Spears checked into a treatment facility in the Caribbean on Wednesday. People and TMZ.com reported that she checked out a day later. People reported that Spears was treated at the Crossroads Centre, a facility on the Caribbean island of Antigua founded by Eric Clapton. (“Crossroads,” of course, is also the name of Britney’s only… Read more »

The actor/singer/comedian brought all his ammunition to Madison Square Garden on Monday night, breaking his Unpredictable show into two sets: One consisting of straight comedy and the other featuring singing, dancing and a brief resurrection of Ray Charles. A few days prior to the concert, Foxx checked in with MTV News via telephone from Paris, where we was attending… Read more »

Britney Too Toxic for Fan Shrine

Ruben Garay, the webmaster of World of Britney (worldofbritney.com) and arguably her biggest devotee, has announced plans to shut down the six-year-old site in the wake of the “Toxic” singer’s recent run of questionable behavior. “As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is [World of Britney],” Garay writes. “I believe Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least). No matter what anyone thinks or how they may disagree, it’s very hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going.” The Web shrine, which bears the motto “Dream, Create, Deliver, Inspire” and has… Read more »

Abdul's 'SNL' Self-Parody Upstaged By System Of A Down's F-Bomb

The big surprise on “Saturday Night Live” was supposed to be Paula Abdul’s cameo mocking the Corey Clark scandal. But System of a Down managed to upstage the embattled “American Idol” judge. During a performance of their new single “B.Y.O.B.,” both singer Serj Tankian and guitarist Daron Malakian were seen – in close-up – mouthing the song’s profane refrain, “Where the f– are you?” with the expletive bleeped out by the show’s censors. But near the end of the song, Malakian screamed “F– yeah!” and the profanity made it by the censor. At least one fan rejoiced in the slip,… Read more »
