Ozzy Osbourne has set a October 16th release date for his new album, Down to Earth, his first recording of new material since Ozzmosis six years ago. The eleven-track disc was produced by Tim Palmer (Robert Plant, Tears for Fears) and features a lineup of longtime guitarist Zakk Wylde, along with bassist Robert Trujillo and drummer Mike Bordin. Fans can also go to www.getozzynow.com starting September 24th and order an advance copy of the album, which features a ten-minute CD-Extra video montage of rare footage of Osbourne with original guitarist Randy Rhoads.
Ozzy Osbourne joined horror rocker Rob Zombie in a Los Angeles studio last week to work on “Iron Head,” a song to be included on Zombie’s upcoming album. Zombie’s sophomore solo release has been pushed back to October 30th, fittingly right before Halloween. In addition to Osbourne, the album will include guest appearances by Slayer guitarist Kerry King, former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, Limp Bizkit ‘s DJ Lethal and Beastie Boys compatriot Mix Master Mike. It was heavy metal heaven Saturday at the sun-baked Blockbuster Bowl as an estimated 50,000-plus headbangers took in this year’s 12-hour-long edition of OzzFest, featuring a strong roster of young rock outfits and headlined by the granddaddy of metal bands, Black Sabbath. Longtime bassist Piggy D. announced that he’s officially parted ways with Rob Zombie and co. In the wake of his absence, the original member of the lineup, Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, rejoins the outfit. Blasko left in 2006, with Piggy D. replacing him, when he linked up with Ozzy Osbourne’s ensemble.
