Kelly Osbourne No Longer Getting 'Freaky'

Kelly Osbourne is still dropping an album, but her Hollywood acting debut will have to wait. Ozzy’s youngest daughter has dropped out of a remake of the 1977 Disney teen classic “Freaky Friday,” currently in production. Starring a young Jodie Foster, the original movie was based on Mary Rodgers’ novel about a tomboy and her combative mother who magically switch bodies after wishing they could be someone else. Osbourne, who was set to play the young girl’s best friend, pulled out of the picture due to scheduling conflicts surrounding the promotion cycle of her debut album, her publicist said. Ozzy Fights Despair Over Sick Wife

Ozzy Osbourne said he’s cried, prayed and feared for the future since his wife, Sharon, was diagnosed with colon cancer. “I’m falling apart more than she is, and people say to me, ‘Ozzy, you’ve got to be strong for Sharon.’ And I’m not Superman, you know,” Osbourne said in a Fox News interview to air this week. The rock star, whose unconventional family life is chronicled in the MTV hit reality series “The Osbournes,” said he wept for weeks after finding out about his wife’s illness. “Shares in Kleenex must have gone up tenfold,” said Osbourne, who initially decided to… Read more »

Osbourne Lawsuit Dismissed

The lawsuit against Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne brought by Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake has been dismissed by the federal court in Los Angeles. In a ruling issued on August 16, 2002, the court rejected the plaintiffs’ claims for record royalties and additional credits on the classic Ozzy albums “Blizzard of Oz” and “Diary of A Madman.” The ruling ends the lawsuit first filed in 1998. Ozzy and Sharon stated: “This decision recognizes what we have been saying all along: Bob and Lee’s lawsuit was vicious and frivolous. It is truly sad that they felt the need to try to… Read more »

Bandmates Sue Osbournes

A trial date of Feb. 18 has been set for the lawsuit brought by Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake against Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne over the deletion of their contributions to the albums “Blizzard of Ozz” and “Diary of a Madman.” Epic Records reissued last month altered versions of the two Osbourne albums with the bassist and drummer’s parts replaced by new recordings, thereby eliminating claims Daisley and Kerslake would have on mechanical royalties. Daisley wrote all the lyrics and co-wrote the music for “Blizzard of Ozz” and “Diary of a Madman.” The current suit was filed in August 1998… Read more »

Ozzy Returning To Ozzfest Sooner Than Expected

The Prince of Darkness will retake his rightful place on the Ozzfest throne sooner than expected. He will now return and resume his headlining slot August 7 in Clarkston, Michigan, according to an Osbournes spokesperson. The new restart date means Osbourne will only miss two dates of the tour: August… Read more »

Producer Sues Over 'Osbournes' Idea

A producer has sued Ozzy Osbourne and the rock musician’s wife, claiming the couple stole the idea for their hit MTV reality series “The Osbournes” from him. Plaintiff Gary Binkow said he met on several occasions with the couple and executives from Miramax TV between 1999 and 2000 to discuss “a real-life docu-sitcom” about their family, according to the lawsuit filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The court papers include what Binkow said was a copy of his original treatment of the proposed series from January 2000, registered with the Writers Guild of America, The Hollywood Reporter reported Friday.… Read more »

Sharon Osbourne Says Cancer Has Spread

Sharon Osbourne’s cancer is more serious than was initially diagnosed. After having a foot of her colon removed in surgery July 3, the wife of heavy metal pioneer Ozzy Osbourne and matriarch of “The Osbournes” was expected to make a full recovery. However, she told People magazine in an issue published Thursday the cancer had spread. Doctors, who believed they had removed the cancer, later found cancerous cells in one of two lymph nodes removed during the procedure, indicating it had moved beyond her colon. Sharon will undergo three months of chemotherapy beginning July 29 and MTV will document it… Read more »

Papa Ozzy Bares Fangs Again As Ozzfest Hits Boston

When Ozzy Osbourne was chiefly known in middle America for decapitating winged creatures and urinating on the Alamo, he and his annual hard rock hoedown were greeted with protests, boycotts and prayer meetings. Sharon Osbourne, the wife/manager of metal pioneer Ozzy, will undergo surgery to heal an unspecified but treatable form of cancer, according to the Osbournes’ publicist. She’s expected to make a full recovery. The operation, which is taking place Wednesday (July 3), prompts the postponement of the first two dates of Ozzfest – originally scheduled to begin Saturday in Bristow, Virginia – as Sharon’s immediate family (Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Ozzy) is at her side at this time. Ozzfest 2002 will now begin July 10 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Bristow show and the one scheduled for the following day in Pittsburgh… Read more »

System, Papa Roach Rage On Weenie Roast Stage While Jack Osbourne Holds Court

Not even his father could have said it better. “This is diet Ozzfest,” Jack Osbourne quipped backstage at the sold-out KROQ Weenie Roast. Southern California’s authoritative modern rock radio station hosted its 10th annual summer concert extravaganza on Saturday and, yes, it did offer a glimpse of the summer’s most anticipated tours, especially Ozzfest. Ozzy himself could not make the festivities, as his daughter Kelly was performing across the valley at KIIS’ Wango Tango radio show alongside the likes of Celine Dion and past Weenie Roast favorites No Doubt. Why wasn’t Jack there? “We don’t get along,” he clarified. Representing… Read more »
