Atlantic Vice President of Marketing & Product Development Lee Stimmel has announced that Madelyn Scarpulla has joined Atlantic Records as senior director of product development, and will be based at the company’s New York headquarters. California pop/rock outfit Sugar Ray is hitting a host of small U.S. college campuses on its spring tour, which will kick off with a Feb. 15-17 stand at Caesars Tahoe casino in Lake Tahoe, Nev. The jaunt comes in support of the group’s self-titled Lava/Atlantic album, which debuted at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 in June 2001. The single “When It’s Over” is No. 20 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 chart this week. No Doubt are taking their Rock Steady to the streets, beginning in mid-March. The ska-turned-reggae rock quartet will launch its first proper tour in support of its latest album, Rock Steady, with two offshore dates in Puerto Rico and Venezuela, on March 14 and 16, respectively, according to an Interscope Records spokesperson. The Stone Pony, a mecca for fans of Jersey shore rock ‘n’ roll, appears to have survived a brush with destruction, officials said on Thursday. The dilapidated nightclub, a musical home to such legends as Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith, will be incorporated into a tentative plan to help revitalize the decayed beachfront of Asbury Park, New Jersey, they said.
