Moby’s inaugural Area: One roving concert festival is taking shape with the addition of hip-hop duo Outkast and electro-rock group New Order to a lineup that includes previously announced acts Incubus and Paul Oakenfold. Rap ensemble the Roots and techno DJ Carl Cox have also been added to the bill, according to Moby’s publicist. “My reason for doing this is that there is a lot of music in the world that I love that does not always get the appropriate exposure,” Moby said in a press release. For years recording artists and the executives who promote their work have had a love-hate relationship. Executives at recording companies, which make billions of dollars a year distributing music on compact discs and in other formats, say their business is risky and they should be compensated for taking chances on young talent. July 24 will be ground zero for Slipknot’s as-yet-untitled second album, according to a Roadrunner Records spokesperson. The follow-up to their eponymous 1999 debut was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Ross Robinson. Next week production will move cross-country to New York, where Andy Wallace will start mixing new songs “People Equal Shit,” “The Heretic Anthem,” “Disaster Piece” and just-announced “New Abortion” among other album tracks, with the help of two unnamed band members. ‘N Sync have enlisted the galaxy’s hottest producers, the Neptunes, for their follow-up to No Strings Attached, tentatively set for a June release.
