Grammy-winning recording star Alanis Morissette is planning a February release for her first album of all-new material in more than three years, followed by a world tour, her publicist said on Wednesday. Jay-Z received a three-year probation sentence Thursday (December 6) from Judge Micki Scherer for stabbing music executive Lance “Un” Rivera in December 1999, according to a spokesperson for New York’s District Attorney’s office. The top rapper admitted to committing the crime in court on October 17. Jay-Z stabbed Rivera in the stomach while attending the December 2, 1999 release party for Q-Tip’s Amplified at New York’s Kit Kat Klub. Bon Jovi are set to begin tracking their eighth album and follow-up to 2000’s comeback success, Crush. For the album, tentatively titled “Bounce,” the band will again call on their Crush cohort Luke Ebbin to co-produce (alongside singer Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora), in Los Angeles’ Henson (formerly A&M) Studios and at Sanctuary, Bon Jovi’s home studio in New Jersey. XM Satellite Radio today announced that it placed 10 million shares of its common stock in a public offering underwritten by Morgan Stanley resulting in gross proceeds of $112.5 million to the company. In addition, XM has granted the underwriter an over-allotment option to purchase an additional 1.5 million shares of common stock. The offering is expected to close early next week. Music service provider Listen.com is set to flip the switch on its new music subscription service Monday, connecting consumers to legal, digital versions of tunes ahead of long-awaited efforts from the major labels. Listen.com said its new digital music service, dubbed Rhapsody, will offer music fans features such as unlimited streams of music, access to more than 50 commercial-free Net radio stations, and a playlist-sharing program that lets people create mixes and send them to friends.
