NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It’s been Taylor Swift’s year, and Wednesday was her night as she became the youngest person and the first solo female act in a decade to win the Country Music Association’s entertainer of the year award.
After witnessing Lady Gaga’s violently dramatic performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards earlier this month (blood! hangings!), when word broke the former Rolling Stone cover star would rock Saturday Night Live this coming weekend, fans started to prep for something suitably epic. Gaga says she’ll deliver – with a brand-new track. This is evidently the stunning cover of Eminem’s Relapse, courtesy of our favorite hip-hop blog Nah Right. The artwork features a portrait of Slim Shady sculpted from pills of assorted shapes, sizes and colors. T.I. utilized a similar technique for his Paper Trail cover, but where Relapse is a mosaic created out of medicine, Paper Trail is a collage composed of ripped-up memos and folded dollar bills. Britney Spears' new single "Womanizer" made a record-breaking leap to top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart on Wednesday, underscoring her musical comeback after making headlines with her personal woes. Billboard said the song, the first from a new Spears album due for release in December, jumped from No.96 to No.1 in the past week and returned Spears to the top of the list for the first time since her 1999 debut single "Baby One More Time." Hours after performing for thousands of South Carolina college students, former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity DJ AM were critically injured in a fiery Learjet crash that killed four people, authorities said Saturday. Officials said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane hurtled off the end of a runway and crashed through antennas and a fence. A year after vowing never to perform on the MTV Video Music Awards again, hip-hop star Kanye West will close the show’s 25th annual ceremony in Hollywood on Sunday, joining a lineup that includes Christina Aguilera and the Jonas Brothers, organizers said.
