The “Karma Chameleon” purveyor pleaded not guilty Thursday to a charge of false imprisonment for allegedly chaining a male escort to a wall and threatening him at the former’s east London home last April. George, 46, whose real name is George O’Dowd, turned up at Snaresbrook Crown Court dressed in black and sporting shades. Yahoo! Inc. and Time Warner Inc.’s AOL unit may shut down their Web radio services after being hit with a 38 percent increase in royalties to air music. “We’re not going to stay in the business if cost is more than we make long term,” Ian Rogers, general manager at Yahoo’s music unit, said in an interview. Yahoo and AOL stopped directing users to their radio sites after SoundExchange, the Washington-based group representing artists and record labels, began collecting the higher fees in July. A peace concert promoting a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict was called off Sunday after threats were made to Palestinians supporting the event. The New York-based One Voice organization had planned to hold simultaneous concerts in Tel Aviv and the West Bank town of Jericho, with Canadian rock star Bryan Adams in lead billing. The Jericho concert was called off last week due to security concerns, including threats to blow up the West Bank office of One Voice, said group founder Daniel Lubetzky. Opera superstar Luciano Pavarotti, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, has been admitted to hospital in northern Italy and is in a satisfactory condition, a hospital spokesman said on Thursday. Pavarotti was hospitalized with a fever in his home town of Modena on Wednesday, the spokesman said. He is likely to be discharged in the next few days. The singer, who had surgery to remove a pancreatic tumor in July 2006, was suffering from pneumonia, a newspaper reported. Silverchair has postponed four shows on their current U.S. Tour to allow singer, Daniel Johns to recover fully from a case of laryngitis.  Daniel caught the common viral infection of the throat earlier this week after flying Sydney/Los Angeles/Toronto/New York/Los Angeles over just four days. It severely impeded his vocal performance on the “Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on Tuesday.
