Marilyn Manson Cleared in Battery Suit

A jury ruled on Monday against a security guard who accused rocker Marilyn Manson of battery at a concert three years ago. David Diaz’ federal civil suit sought more than $75,000 for emotional distress and other injuries. He claimed that Manson stood at the edge of the stage, pulled the guard’s head toward his crotch and gyrated. Manson never contested the accusation, but maintained that it did not constitute battery. The jury deliberated 11 hours over two days before returning a verdict. Last year, Manson pleaded no contest in Michigan to being a disorderly person and assault and battery after… Read more »

Marilyn Manson has been left off the bill for the Rochester, New York date of this summer’s OzzFest tour, reports the Democrat And Chronicle newspaper. Marilyn Manson, "The Golden Age of Grotesque" – Review

Headbanging riffs prevail on Marilyn Manson’s “The Golden Age of Grotesque.” “Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth,” and “mOBSCENE,” with its taunting cheerleader chants, carry a heavyweight sound of bludgeoning rhythms and chainsaw guitars. Perhaps most engaging is the title track, a trawling hummer of a bummer; it’s melodramatic vaudevillian style recalls Pink Floyd’s personal crises of “The Wall” and fades with a chorus similar to Iggy Pop’s “Passenger” as it celebrates an age where the profane is profitable.

Meet Marilyn Manson the Painter

Marilyn Manson will make his debut as a visual artist on September 19th, when he unveils more than forty watercolors at the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions. Among the works are nudes, a portrait of a child with a gun, and an image of himself as Mickey Mouse. “I’ve not gone out of my way to be offensive,” says Manson. “They might expect me to have painted in my own shit or something.” Critics will be the judge of that. “They’re a lot like Red Skelton’s paintings,” says David A. Greene, a critic for Dwell and England’s Modern Painters magazine. “They… Read more »

Marilyn Manson Hit With Lawsuit

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson defended himself against claims that he was responsible for the death of a woman after a party at his mansion last year. Jennifer Syme, 29, died on April 1, 2001 when she was flung from her Jeep Cherokee after hitting at least three parked cars. “After Jennifer was sent home safely with a designated driver, she later got behind the wheel of her own car for reasons known only to her,” Manson said in a statement issued through his Posthuman Records Management label. A wrongful death suit filed Tuesday in Superior Court by Syme’s mother claims… Read more »

Marilyn Manson Set Title For Next LP, Find Inspiration In '30s Berlin

Marilyn Manson have set The Golden Age of Grotesque as the title for their forthcoming album, the band’s namesake singer announced Thursday (March 21). Although the group is still recording, Manson described the album on his official Web site as a “genius deluge of hardcore guitar-drum violence” and “reckless electronic-punk vaudeville mixed with ’30s cabaret decadence.” Producers Tim Skold (KMFDM) and Ben Gross (Filter) are working with the group on The Golden Age of Grotesque, for which Manson said several songs are finished, including one called “Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth.” Manson described the album last fall as… Read more »

Marilyn Manson Challenges UK Pop Idol Gareth

The British pop charts are warming up for a struggle between good and evil as American Satanic rocker Marilyn Manson releases an album on the same day as stammering, squeaky-clean ‘Pop Idol’ runner-up Gareth Gates. Drawing up the battlelines on Wednesday, Manson said his years of drug and alcohol abuse were just as much of a handicap as Gates’ stammer, and he deserved a Number One hit. Manson, who bases his act around devil worship, releases “Tainted Love” on Monday, the same day as former choir-boy Gates cover version of “Unchained Melody.” But in an interview with music magazine NME,… Read more »
