Judge Deciding on Suit Against Madonna

A judge is deciding whether to throw out a suit against Madonna and her husband because the other lawyer didn’t show up. The suit was filed by Vincent D’Onofrio, not the actor, alleging Madonna and Guy Ritchie broke a contract that involved him bringing them the idea for remaking “Swept Away.” Madonna starred in the remake and Ritchie directed it. The film was both a critical and box office disaster. Madonna has since moved on with a guest starring role on “Will & Grace” and a new CD, “American Life.” D’Onofrio’s lawyer, Morris Getzels, missed a hearing because he says… Read more »

Hackers Have Field Day with Madonna Decoy

Anyone who thinks they can control the Internet received an object lesson during the past week. It all started when Madonna literally lent her voice to a popular antipiracy technique. Warner Music Group had audio files purporting to be her new songs uploaded onto peer-to-peer file-sharing services. Anyone who downloaded the decoys, however, heard nothing but the pop star swearing at them. But since then, the pithy profanity has taken on a life of its own. Some observers thought Madonna was smart to fight piracy with its own tools. Others perceived a thrown gauntlet – hackers soon defaced Madonna’s Web… Read more »

Hacker Smacks Down Madonna

Just days after trying to turn the tables on illicit song-swappers by flooding the Net with bogus tracks from her American Life, Madonna was on the receiving end of some computerized comeuppance this weekend. An unknown assailant hacked into Madonna’s official site, www.madonna.com, on Saturday and posted the real MP3s of every song from American Life, which is due in stores Tuesday. Last week, the Material One and label Warner Bros. Records tried to thwart would-be pirates by issuing dummy song files to sites like KaZaA and Morpheus. The files appeared to be leaked tracks from American Life, but when… Read more »

Madonna To Pirates: 'What the Fuck Do You Think You're Doing?'

File traders, Madonna has a question for you: “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” That’s the message you’re likely to get if you try to download songs from the singer’s upcoming American Life, due April 22, on peer-to-peer networks such as Limewire or KaZaA. The spoofed file – a planted fake meant to thwart illegal downloading – recently began flooding P2P networks. Madonna’s spokesperson could not be reached for comment. Other spoofed files containing Madonna’s salty tirade appeared on KaZaA in versions of the new songs “Nobody Knows Me” and “X-Static Process.” If you don’t get the foul-mouthed… Read more »

Madonna Pulls Anti-War Video for 'Life'

Madonna has decided to withdraw the violent, anti-war video for her new single “American Life” out of respect for the troops fighting in Iraq. In a statement posted on her Web site Monday, the singer said the video was filmed before the war started and was not appropriate to air at this time. “Due to the volatile state of the world and out of sensitivity and respect to the armed forces, who I support and pray for, I do not want to risk offending anyone who might misinterpret the meaning of this video,” Madonna said. The video for the title… Read more »

Madonna Complains About British Press

Madonna has complained to Britain’s press watchdog about a magazine article claiming she was pregnant, the Press Complaints Commission said Wednesday. A commission spokeswoman said the singer-actress had contacted the organization to say a report in celebrity magazine Heat was “inaccurate.” Heat reported in its latest issue that Madonna, 44, had visited a birth specialist in London at the end of last year. The magazine noted her baggy clothes and that she’d stopped dying her hair, which some pregnant women choose to do. Madonna’s spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, was quoted by the British Broadcasting Corp. as saying there was no truth… Read more »

Madonna Pregnant? Dad Says 'Yes', Publicist Says 'No'

Madonna’s family needs to start signing non-disclosure forms-her father Tony Ciccone has said that the music icon is pregnant again. Not surprisingly, Madonna’s publicity machine is denying the story. “It’s completely not true,” a rep from Liz Rosenberg Public Relations revealed. However, during an interview with the U.K. tabloid The People, Mr. Ciccone let slip, “We are very excited that she is expecting again. It is always exciting when your children have children.” However, the 70-year-old father of the “Material Mom” also commented, “I don’t know if Madonna’s child is a boy or a girl yet, we just want it… Read more »
