Britney Spears makes a million bucks for terrorist victims


Britney Spears has raised almost $1 million for victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks through her recent concert tour. After the attacks, she put together the Britney Spears Foundation September 11th Fund and donated $1 from every ticket sold to the cause. This fund was established in the same spirit as her Foundation’s core goal, to help children in need. All proceeds from a memorial T-shirt sold on the tour also helped support the families impacted by the tragedy. U2 Was Top Concert Money Earner


The rock band U2 had the second biggest tour ever during a year in which concert industry business was off but ticket prices continued to rise, an industry trade publication said Thursday. The top 100 concert tours sold 34.4 million tickets in 2001, down about 7 percent from 37.1 million the year before, according to an analysis by Pollstar magazine. Reggae artist Shaggy’s “Hotshot” album was the hottest-selling record in 2001, totaling 5.5 million units sold since January, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) said on Thursday. Morissette's New Album Set for Feb. Release


Grammy-winning recording star Alanis Morissette is planning a February release for her first album of all-new material in more than three years, followed by a world tour, her publicist said on Wednesday. Maverick, Atlantic Records cut jobs


Maverick Records and Atlantic Records, two labels owned by AOL Time Warner Inc., said Monday they have cut more than 30 jobs combined over the past week. A spokesman for Warner Music said there had been 16 job cuts at Maverick Records over the last week, while Atlantic has also cut about 15 jobs.
