Alice in Chains’ Layne Staley was found dead in his Seattle home on Friday evening. The King County Medical Examiner positively identified Staley’s body on Saturday (April 20), following an autopsy. Exact time and cause of death are pending, as laboratory results could take several weeks, a spokesperson said. Staley was 34. Police responded to a call to check on a person’s well-being at Staley’s address in Seattle’s University District at 5:41 p.m. PT on Friday, according to the police report. Music fans eagerly anticipating the return of the pioneering Lollapalooza tour will have to wait at least another year. While the status of the granddaddy of summer package tours – Lollapalooza – is shrouded in mystery, don’t be fooled by a tour with a similar-sounding name. Locobazooka is the one that’s actually happening. Filter, Sevendust, Fu Manchu, Nonpoint, Mushroomhead, Gravity Kills, Reveille and Earshot are set to perform on the summer trek, which begins June 27 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to promoters. The electronica artist kicked off his “AREA:ONE” festival at Atlanta’s Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater on Wednesday, an eclectic music gathering that was pure energy from start to finish.
