Linkin Park Gets OK for Malaysia Concert

American rap-rock band Linkin Park has received the government’s permission to perform next month in Malaysia – but it won’t be allowed to scream, jump around or wear shorts onstage. The Ministry of Culture and Arts said Wednesday it has approved plans for the band to hold a concert on Oct. 15 at a 50,000-seat stadium in this conservative, predominantly Muslim Southeast Asian country. “The government believes the performance will provide an alternative type of entertainment in Malaysia,” the ministry said, while warning that the rock stars must abide by a strict code of “artist performance ethics.” “Male artists must… Read more »

Linkin Park's Chester Bennington's Stomach Woes Continue

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington must have realized lately that a hospital is somewhere he belongs. Back in May, the ill-fated screamer was diagnosed with a crippling back and stomach ailment that forced the band to cancel 12 European shows. Despite thorough investigation, doctors were unable to pinpoint the source of Bennington’s mysterious problem. Rather, they have merely speculated that it could have been either an intestinal disorder or a parasite, the latter of which may have been transmitted to Bennington through improperly cooked food (that’ll teach ‘em to let Fred Durst grill the burgers next time…). Since then, things… Read more »

Every night on the Summer Sanitarium Tour, Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington is tearing it up, just as he swore he would. There was a time, though, when it looked like he might have to break his promise. Less than six weeks ago, Bennington was checked into a Los Angeles hospital with severe back and stomach pains, and doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him. “Thank God it’s over,” he said backstage before a recent performance in Philadelphia. “There’s nothing more depressing than a hospital room, with crap hanging out of your arms. They still don’t know what… Read more »

Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington revealed that the band still wants fans to get the music via the Internet, but he said it has to be done in a way that works for fans and the bands. “We’re all going to have to adjust,” says Bennington. “You know what I’m saying?
