Singer Aaliyah Killed In Bahamas Plane Crash


U.S. singer and actress Aaliyah was killed along with seven other people Saturday when a small Cessna passenger plane crashed and burst into flames shortly after taking off from an island in the Bahamas bound for Miami, police said early Sunday. Superintendent Basil Rahming of Grand Bahama police department named the 22-year-old star as one of the eight people, all U.S. residents, killed in the crash at the small airport at Marsh Harbour, the main town in the Abaco islands. Britney Was 'Nervous' Recording With Justin


Recording a song with boyfriend Justin Timberlake as a co-producer made Britney Spears “a little nervous,” she says. The song, “What It’s Like to Be Me,” was recorded during sessions for Spears’ third album, due November 6. A track listing for the still-untitled album is starting to shape up, as are plans for a tour, which is set to begin October 26 in Miami. Backstreet's A.J. 'Psyched' To Return, Says Howie D.


A.J. McLean is “doing great” and is ready to get back on the road with his fellow Backstreet Boys, bandmate Howie Dorough said on “TRL.” “[A.J.] looks great – he’s put on a little bit of weight, his hair is platinum blond,” Dorough told “TRL” host Carson Daly on Friday (August 17). “He’s really psyched to get back out there – he can’t wait.” McLean, who entered rehab last month for treatment of alcohol abuse, depression and anxiety, recently began care at a “transitional care” facility in Los Angeles. Michael Jackson's New 'Toon Marks Return To Silver Screen


It’s been 25 years since he graced the tube as a cartoon Jackson, but the Associated Press, reports that Michael Jackson is returning to his “picture”-esque roots with his role in The Way of the Unicorn, The Endangered One. Jackson will be starring in The Way of the Unicorn as the voice of Sailor, an orphan who works with a poor litte rich girl and a gaggle of endangered species to rescue Earth. The Weezer/Cold tour will kick off on Sept. 11 in San Jose, Calif., instead of the expected Sept. 6 date. 311 To Headline North America In Late Summer/Early Fall


Funk/punk/rap-rockers 311 will follow their summer on the Warped Tour with an extensive headlining tour across North America. The group will kick off a two-month swing in support of its latest album, From Chaos, at the Street Scene in San Diego on September 8 and play more than three dozen shows through the end of October. The trek culminates in a Halloween performance at the Universal Amphitheater in the group’s home base of Los Angeles. Backstreet Boys On Course To Continue Tour As Planned


As A.J. McLean continues treatment for alcoholism, depression and anxiety, the Backstreet Boys are on course to resume their tour as planned on August 24 in Milwaukee, the group’s spokesperson said. On August 4, McLean left the rehabilitation center where he had been staying since early July, and moved to a “transitional care” facility in Los Angeles, according to the Backstreet Boys’ publicists. Ron Townson Dies


Ron Townson, founding member of the Grammy winning pop group the 5th Dimension, died in his home in Las Vegas on August 2nd. Townson suffered renal failure after a four-year battle with kidney disease. He was sixty-eight. The St. Louis, Missouri native began singing at the age of six in school and church choirs, something he would do throughout his career. At Lincoln University in Jefferson City he directed university and church choirs. Throughout school Townson toured with the Wings Over Jordan Choir for eight years and served as conductor for two.
