There’s something a little different about Black Sabbath’s performance at Ozzfest nowadays, and if you blink you might miss it. Two images of George W. Bush, shown during Sabbath’s performance of the metal classic “War Pigs,” have been removed from the video montage that accompanies the song, which usually kicks off the band’s headlining set. Federal regulators opened a new front in their crackdown on offensive broadcasts Thursday, saying that almost any use of the F-word on over-the-air radio and television would be considered indecent. The Federal Communications Commission overruled its staff and said an expletive uttered by rock singer Bono on NBC was both indecent and profane. It marked the first time that the FCC cited a four-letter word as profane; the commission previously equated profanity with language challenging God’s divinity. Phish’s Mike Gordon was cleared of child endangerment charges this morning, more than a month after the bassist was found alone with a nine-year-old girl in a boathouse during a concert by the Dead at Jones Beach Amphitheater in Wantagh, New York. “I am glad all the charges against me have been dismissed and I can put this misunderstanding behind me,” he said in a statement. “I am grateful for the support I’ve received from my friends and fans.” After the August 11th incident Gordon, 38, claimed that he was taking art pictures of the girl. More details are emerging surrounding the arrest of Phish bassist Mike Gordon on charges of child endangerment. While Gordon was a guest at the Dead’s August 11 concert in Long Island, he disappeared with the daughter of a Hells Angels member. A search for the girl began after the mother of the child became concerned. The New York Post reports members of the Hells Angels found Gordon and the girl in a boathouse near the concert stage.
