The bands only want their full albums available for sale via Internet download. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington revealed that the band still wants fans to get the music via the Internet, but he said it has to be done in a way that works for fans and the bands. “We’re all going to have to adjust,” says Bennington. “You know what I’m saying? Simple Plan Tour Diary Part Two: Big Show In The Windy City

Simple Plan are rolling on the Warped Tour right now and collecting random bits of gossip for us along the way. Our latest installment comes courtesy of lead guitarist Jeff Stinco: It’s 9 a.m. and I wake up to the sound of David screaming in his sleep. Once again, he’s having a nightmare and sounds like he’s getting stabbed by the devil himself. I walk to the front of the bus to take a peek outside and I see an army of men and women already running around everywhere and putting together their tents and stages for today’s show. Top Artists Balking At A La Carte Downloads

Despite the major labels’ success in clearing hundreds of thousands of tracks for purchase online through services like Apple’s iTunes Music Store, some top artists continue to resist authorizing the dismantling of their albums for Internet consumption as a la carte singles. Sources say the band has expressed concerns about undercutting album sales. Other acts with similar stipulations about their work include Radiohead, Madonna, Jewel and Green Day, sources say. Being nominated for a Grammy hasn’t changed the boys of Bowling for Soup. At all. The pop-punk foursome are up to their old tricks on a just reissued version of their 2002 breakthrough, Drunk Enough to Dance. The album, which spawned the Best Pop Performance Grammy-nominated single “Girl All the Bad Guys Want” and sold nearly 200,000 copies, has been augmented with a typically tongue-in-cheek take on A Flock of Seagulls’ new wave staple “I Ran (So Far Away)” as well as the new tracks “Punk Rock 101” and “Star Song.” “We thought we were working on the follow-up to… Read more »

AFI Revels in Success of 'Sorrow'

The reasons why longtime underground rock act AFI signed with major label DreamWorks aren’t surprising – bigger video budgets, global distribution, press machine. However, drummer Adam Carson tells Billboard.com it’s what the band doesn’t partake in that defines the musically intense outfit. “We wanted to make sure we were in bed with a company we felt good about, to make sure there were no surprises, make sure that everyone was working for us, and we approved of the way they go about doing their work,” says Carson. “And maybe, more so than other bands, instead of taking the free drinks… Read more »
