Rapper, 3,000 Refused Club Entry


Rappers are known for their large entourages, but rap star Nelly might have broken a record. The rapper and an accompanying crowd estimated at about 3,000 people were refused entry to a Lake of the Ozarks night club Saturday night. “We were already full by midnight and had anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 people already inside,” Shooter’s 21 owner John Teichman told the Lake Sun Leader newspaper in Sunday’s edition. “When I realized Nelly and thousands of friends were trying to get inside the front door, I called the cops for help.” The crowd was not violent, said Missouri Water… Read more »

Mariah Carey Released From Clinic


Singer Mariah Carey checked herself out of a Connecticut clinic where she was being treated after suffering an emotional breakdown last month, her spokeswoman said. “MC is feeling better,” Carey’s spokeswoman, Cyndi Berger, told the Daily News in Wednesday’s editions. “She’s under a doctor’s care at an undisclosed location with her mother.” The 31-year-old Grammy winner canceled all public appearances, including headlining last week’s MTV 20th birthday party, and checked herself into a hospital two weeks ago after suffering “an emotional and physical breakdown,” Berger said. Ron Townson Dies


Ron Townson, founding member of the Grammy winning pop group the 5th Dimension, died in his home in Las Vegas on August 2nd. Townson suffered renal failure after a four-year battle with kidney disease. He was sixty-eight. The St. Louis, Missouri native began singing at the age of six in school and church choirs, something he would do throughout his career. At Lincoln University in Jefferson City he directed university and church choirs. Throughout school Townson toured with the Wings Over Jordan Choir for eight years and served as conductor for two. 'Glitter' Release Date Delayed


Nearly two weeks after Mariah Carey’s emotional and physical breakdown, the studio releasing her new movie has announced that the release date has been pushed back to next month. “Glitter,” which stars Carey as an aspiring pop singer, was to open Aug. 31. But 20th Century Fox said Monday it would now open Sept. 21. Studios delay release dates regularly.
