Avril Lavigne has been previewing songs from her upcoming album Under My Skin during her Avril Live And By Surprise mall tour. The singer has typically performed five of the new songs-“Don’t Tell Me,” “He Wasn’t,” “My Happy Ending,” “Take Me Away,” and “Nobody’s Home.” Under My Skin comes out May 25. Neptunes Taking Star Trak Voyage with Interscope


Grammy-winning producers Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo – aka the Neptunes – have found a new home for their Star Trak label. The duo are in the process of signing a three-year deal with Interscope Records worth about $3 million, sources said Tuesday. Star Trak previously had a deal with Arista Records, which the Neptunes signed two years ago with recently ousted Arista chief Antonio “L.A.” Reid. Janet Jackson to Appear on Letterman Show


David Letterman, who got an eyeful of Courtney Love’s breasts during Wednesday’s “Late Show,” has booked another noted breast-barer, Janet Jackson. The singer will grant Letterman her first network TV interview on the “Late Show” on March 29, the show announced Thursday. Rapper Eminem sues over song in Apple Computer ad


Eminem’s music publisher is suing Apple Computer Inc., claiming the computer giant wrongfully used one of the hip-hop superstar’s songs in a television advertisement. Eight Mile Style filed the copyright infringement suit in U.S. District Court in Detroit against Apple, Viacom Inc., its MTV subsidiary and the TBWA/Chiat/Day advertising agency. At issue is an ad for Apple’s iTunes pay-per-download music software, in which a 10-year-old sings Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” The suit claims the commercial aired on MTV beginning in July 2003 and ran numerous times for at least three months. Jury Finds in Favor of P. Diddy in Suit


A jury Monday found in favor of Sean “P. Diddy” Combs in a lawsuit filed by a TV talk-show host who alleged he was roughed up by the hip-hop impresario’s entourage. Roger Mills said members of Combs’ entourage also stole the tape of the 1999 interview – breaking a camera in the process – after he asked Combs to comment on allegations he contributed to the death of rapper Notorious B.I.G. Casino May Be Fined for Nelly's Treatment


A Missouri casino faces a possible $50,000 fine for allegedly giving the rapper Nelly special treatment. State regulators claim the President Casino on the Admiral let Nelly skirt rules intended to limit the amount of money patrons can bet. The Missouri Gaming Commission proposed the fine Thursday. Singer/songwriter Marx Lands EMI Deal


Hot on the heels of his song of the year Grammy win earlier this month, singer/songwriter Richard Marx has signed with EMI/Manhattan Records. Marx picked up the Grammy for “Dance With My Father,” which he co-wrote with the tune’s singer, Luther Vandross.
