Star of Heavy Metal's Motorhead Still Outspoken at 59

Los Angeles – Academia’s loss is heavy metal’s gain. Ian Kilmister, a.k.a. Lemmy, the frontman for Grammy-winning English rock trio Motorhead, could have made a stimulating history professor, sharing his begrudging admiration for Goering and disdain for “bastards” like Hitler and Roosevelt with eager students. Instead, the 59-year-old achieved cult fame with generations of headbangers by singing and writing furious anthems like “Killed By Death” and “Orgasmatron.” But he remains fascinated by World War II and he spends his money collecting Nazi memorabilia, which is piled high in his two-bedroom apartment off the Sunset Strip. “I was born in ’45,… Read more »

Lopez MTV Special Sprinkled With Bling

New York – Jennifer Lopez didn’t let MTV delve as deeply as they do into the lives of “Newlyweds” Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey or the Osbourne family, but she did let the cameras capture her stressing out over her sparkly New York Fashion Week debut – and one itty-bitty tantrum. “Jennifer Lopez: Beyond the Runway,” the hour-long docu-special that airs Thursday night (10 p.m. EST), is mostly drama-free. Unlike the Osbournes’ screaming matches or a fit by Simpson, most of the conflict is over bling and color. Six months before the show, Lopez worries her designers won’t come up… Read more »

U2 Working On How To Dismantle A Ticket-Scalping Bomb

After watching the Grammys, there were several moments that stuck with you. Kanye West’s onstage death and resurrection, Green Day’s pyro-fueled punk rock, and Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx’s tender tribute to Ray Charles all spring to mind, but it was one of the show’s quietest moments that left some people talking loudest. When U2 took the stage to accept their third Grammy of the evening – for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals – Bono seemed genuinely shocked. And in a rare inarticulate moment, he had nothing to say. So drummer Larry Mullen stepped to… Read more »
