A mohawked Eddie Vedder put the regal Waldorf-Astoria hotel in a punk rock state of mind Monday night when he inducted the Ramones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame welcomed its first members from the new wave and punk eras on Monday night, inducting The Ramones and Talking Heads along with classic rockers Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, soul and R&B icon Isaac Hayes, versatile vocalist Brenda Lee and singer/songwriter Gene Pitney. Limp Bizkit’s tour manager said today (March 1) that a Sydney concert where a teenage girl was killed was understaffed and poorly managed. Alexander Murdoch MacLeod was the first person from the Fred Durst-led band’s management to appear at the Australian inquest into the death of 15-year-old Jessica Michalik, who was caught in a crowd crush and suffered a heart attack at the concert on Jan. 26, 2001. Michelle Branch’s Zilo-sponsored Lotus Tour finishes up Sunday (February 24) in Norfolk, Virginia, but Wednesday night (February 20) at New York City’s Irving Plaza she got a visit from the president of her label-who just happens to be Madonna. The Material Girl attended with a few of her girlfriends, and it was a very low-key, laid-back appearance, a source confirmed for LAUNCH.
