Veteran rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers has parted ways with its bass player of 20 years, citing his “ongoing personal problems.” Howie Epstein, who got into trouble with the law last year, will be replaced on tour by Ron Blair, the original member he subbed for in 1982, the band said in a statement on Thursday. Modern rock outfits Sugar Ray, Uncle Kracker, and pop artist Willa Ford have lent their fame to help promote the Six Flags theme parks. The artists will appear in a series of television advertisements hyping the parks, each performing their own songs. Call it “Like Kurtis.” Bow Wow, with help from Jermaine Dupri and Fabolous, has remade Kurtis Blow’s “Basketball” for the soundtrack to his upcoming film “Like Mike.” The rappers will gather in Los Angeles next week with director Chris Robinson (Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg) to shoot a video for the single.
