Spice Girls Christmas Comeback?

The Spice Girls are considering an offer of approximately $2 million each to play a reunion show this Christmas, according to reports. Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham apparently met to discuss the plan in London last Wednesday evening. The quartet were reunited at the 32nd birthday party of David Beckham, which took place at the Cipriani restaurant. Mel C, who is said to be the only member of the pop five-piece against a possible comeback, was the only original member not in attendance. However, discussions about the one-off concert are thought to have taken place, prompting… Read more »

Gary Glitter's Prison Term Reduced

A Vietnamese court reduced former British rocker Gary Glitter’s child molestation sentence today (Feb. 7), cutting his three-year term by three months as part of a nationwide Lunar New Year prison amnesty, a judge said. Glitter, convicted of molesting two Vietnamese girls, will now be released in August 2008, said Tran Thi Thien Huong, a judge on the deciding panel. Vietnam traditionally reduces the sentences of inmates with good prison records just before Tet, as the Lunar New Year is known in Vietnam. The 62-year-old Glitter, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, was convicted in March 2006 of committing… Read more »

Singer Fred Durst Sues Web Site Operators

Los Angeles – Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst is suing 10 Web site operators who the rocker claims profited from posting an explicit video stolen from his home computer showing him having sex with a former girlfriend. The lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, seeks more than $70 million in damages and any profits reaped by the Web site operators in recent weeks, when the 3-minute clip began appearing on the Internet. In the complaint, Durst contends that the video, which he shot in 2003, was never meant for public viewing. By disseminating the clip,… Read more »

New Way To Get Girls: Sing Emo Tunes A Cappella At Dorm Socials

Somewhere between the slight goofiness of the barbershop quartet and the life-or-death dramatics of the opera, there lies a cappella, a form of harmonized singing usually reserved for bow-tie-clad lawyers-to-be at Ivy League colleges across the Northeast. But one group of students at George Washington University is aiming to change all that, by bringing a cappella to the hoodie and studded-belt set. They’re called Emocapella (spelled with one “p,” which, in itself, is way emo), a bunch of sensitive lads who harmonize tunes by emo faves like Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday and Saves the Day at nearly sold-out concerts… Read more »

Lars Fredericksen Meets With Disaster – Review

Opening band The Disasters are aptly named. There’s just something so incredibly insincere about their music that angered me as much as it bored me. They’re a train wreck. I mean, you’ve got one of the grandfathers of hardcore – NEW YORK Hard core at that – crooning away like he’s part of the SoCal pop-punk elite? It’s all wrong. Now, I’m all for helping out the underdog, but on this night in particular, The Disasters seemed like nothing more than a few bandits hoping to cash in on something they know nothing about. Derivative songs were half-heartedly hammered out… Read more »

The Used Are Too Bored To Be Angry

When dealing with tortured Utah scream-pop kewpies The Used, it’s all too easy to smirk at the appropriateness of their name or at singer Bert McCracken ‘s tryst with Kelly Osborne (or, for that matter, his name in particular). But then, it’s fair game when the band is, in the midst of their umpteenth interview of the day, ordered to sign hundreds of posters and CD booklets to promote their latest emo goldmine, In Love And Death. “It’s just stuff you have to do,” says mussed blond guitarist Quinn Allman, absently scribbling his John Hancock on yet another insert. “There… Read more »

Phish’s Mike Gordon was cleared of child endangerment charges this morning, more than a month after the bassist was found alone with a nine-year-old girl in a boathouse during a concert by the Dead at Jones Beach Amphitheater in Wantagh, New York. “I am glad all the charges against me have been dismissed and I can put this misunderstanding behind me,” he said in a statement. “I am grateful for the support I’ve received from my friends and fans.” After the August 11th incident Gordon, 38, claimed that he was taking art pictures of the girl. Fred Durst Talks More Trash About Britney, Borland

Despite an apparent cease-fire to the mudslinging between Fred Durst and Britney Spears, the Limp Bizkit frontman just can’t seem to say enough about the sexy singer. Onstage Saturday at a free concert in London’s Finsbury Park, Durst introduced the tune “Break Stuff” by taking a swipe at the pop star. At the opening of the Significant Other single with the prophetic line, “It’s all about the he said, she said bullsh-,” Durst made his proclamation. “How many people out there have had one of those f–ed-up days?” he asked the crowd. “I can remember quite a few f–ed-up days… Read more »

Linkin Park Singer Recovers From Illness In Time To Check Out Girls Going Wild

Every night on the Summer Sanitarium Tour, Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington is tearing it up, just as he swore he would. There was a time, though, when it looked like he might have to break his promise. Less than six weeks ago, Bennington was checked into a Los Angeles hospital with severe back and stomach pains, and doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him. “Thank God it’s over,” he said backstage before a recent performance in Philadelphia. “There’s nothing more depressing than a hospital room, with crap hanging out of your arms. They still don’t know what… Read more »
