Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey To Go All The Way

On-again, off-again pop power couple Jessica Simpson and 98 Degrees’ Nick Lachey are not only back together… they’re engaged. Though they had a very public breakup last April, the twosome are “very happy” now that they plan to tie the knot, according to a spokesperson for Simpson’s record label. The couple, who had been dating since Simpson opened for 98 Degrees’ tour in the summer of 1999, were similar to pop’s other reigning couple, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake – in both cases, the female half made public proclamations that she would remain a virgin until she was married. Alienation Lands Simple Plan On Movie Soundtrack, Warped Tour

When you’re a teenager and you’re feeling lonely and left out, it’s good to have a band around like Simple Plan, who have already survived adolescent alienation and funneled memories of their frustrations into infectious pop-punk. “Maybe when the night is dead I’ll crawl into my bed, staring at these four walls again/ I’ll try to think about the last time I had a good time,” Pierre Bouvier sings on the band’s hook-filled single “I’m Just a Kid,” which is starting to heat up at radio and should continue to sizzle while the band is on tour this spring, first… Read more »

Iron Maiden's Eddie Makes A Killer Toy

Once again, Todd McFarlane has immortalized one of the most beloved personalities of heavy metal as a detailed action figure. This time, however, it’s not a living musician he’s paying tribute to, but a character from beyond the grave. Yes, shriveled-faced, sneering Eddie – the Iron Maiden mascot – has been preserved in plastic. “With us as individuals, we’re not really interested in being made into action figures, because we’ve got Eddie,” Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson explained Tuesday. “We’ve got plenty of incarnations of Eddie to go on with for ages.” The first Eddie doll was modeled after the claw-bearing,… Read more »

Ozzy Osbourne, on his first tour of Japan in four years, will tape his performance Friday at Tokyo’s legendary Budokan Hall for a live album and DVD. Although it’s not yet known which performance songs will appear in the video, the live album will contain some B-sides from import singles, according to Osbourne’s publicist. Familiar tunes made registers ring at the nation’s music retailers last week as a remix collection, three hits compilations, a reshaped album and a live disc were the top 40 debuts. Manilow’s profile has been increased recently: he released his first… Read more »

When they finish the Projekt Revolution Tour, which also features Linkin Park, Cypress Hill and DJ Z-Trip, Adema will join Alien Ant Farm, Fenix TX, Glassjaw and others on the already-in-progress SnoCore Festival, which runs until March 30. After that, the band will likely tour on its own through the end of the year. Rock Star Hopefuls Jam Limp Bizkit Auditions

After hearing thousands of unknown hopefuls in a series of minute-long auditions, hard rock band Limp Bizkit may ask a few potential bandmates back to see if any strike the right chord, the group’s manager said on Tuesday. The band, fronted by Fred Durst and best known for its raging blend of punk, heavy metal and hip-hop, may sign a new guitarist through the open-call “Put Your Money Where Your Guitar Is” tryouts, which began in January. But the group has never guaranteed it would fill the spot left vacant when Wes Borland quit last fall. Of the nearly 5,000… Read more »
