Women rule the roost on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart, as females lord over the top three spots. First up is Ashanti, whose self-titled debut remains the #1 album in the country for the third straight week. Twelve hours, four stages and more than 40 bands marked the end of the three-day Skate and Surf Festival on Sunday. Held at the Asbury Park Convention Hall, the second installment of the now annual event featured performances from Bouncing Souls, Face to Face and the Descendents, among many others. Alice in Chains’ Layne Staley was found dead in his Seattle home on Friday evening. The King County Medical Examiner positively identified Staley’s body on Saturday (April 20), following an autopsy. Exact time and cause of death are pending, as laboratory results could take several weeks, a spokesperson said. Staley was 34. Police responded to a call to check on a person’s well-being at Staley’s address in Seattle’s University District at 5:41 p.m. PT on Friday, according to the police report. Eminem dresses up like Osama bin Laden and spoofs “The Sally Jesse Raphael Show” in the video for his new single, “Without Me.” Slim Shady shot the clip for the first single from The Eminem Show in Los Angeles last weekend with director Joseph Kahn (Britney Spears, DMX), according to his Interscope Records spokesperson. “MTV’s Shore Thing” will broadcast all summer from a beach house on the boardwalk, just as it did in 1998. Beginning April 29, MTV will take over a two-story house on the boardwalk, between Kearney and Fremont avenues, using it as backdrop for shows and specials, including “Total Request Live.” The house is occupied by the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol, which will move to a nearby bathhouse to make room for the cable network’s production operations.
